Community Transport is seeking trustees to join the board at an exciting time, to help grow the charity, and achieve greater impact for people who face barriers to using conventional transport to leave their home.What difference will you make?As a trustee, you will support the strategic objectives of the charity to meet its goals; to support more people to travel by expanding its accessible transport services and increasing revenue through growth in its retail operations. What you bring to the role of trustee will help to drive that strategic direction. In that role, you will be supporting people to be independent and make their own choices, though being able to travel to access services, shops, health appointments or to socialise.What are we looking for?Existing board members bring a wealth of skills and experience, but are looking to add to those for the next phase of the charity's journey, by recruiting trustees with lived experience of disability, with skills or experience in marketing, particularly online platforms, commercial experience, retail operations and transport. As a trustee, you will need to be able to look at the big picture, be a critical friend and to challenge positively, both other trustees and the senior staff teamWhat will you be doing?Based at sites across the NE, Community Transport is a charity that supports people with limited mobility to access transport through provision of accessible transport options, supported by income generation from its charity retail operations. The charity delivers transport on behalf of local authorities as well as to individuals and local community based groups, using a fleet of accessible minibuses and with trained and vetted drivers and passenger assistants. Supporting this are three charity shops selling donated and new items of furniture and electrical goods. Community Transport is seeking trustees to join the board at an exciting time, to help grow the charity, expand its reach and achieve greater impact for people who face barriers to leaving their home, enabling them to leave their home and meet with others, access services and facilities, or simply to enjoy a change of scenery. The current board bring a range of skills to the charity, and are looking to expand their number and attract additional skills towards growing the charity, now in its 60th year. The charity has restructured its operations this year, and aims to expand not only its provision of accessible transport options, but increase its retail sites too, generating income through selling donated and new furniture across the NE. The board would particularly welcome people based in the NE, with lived experience of disability and barriers to travelling, and are seeking people with commercial, transport, retail and marketing skills/experience.
