Scope Of The Role

The Senior Director, Global Sales & Business Development of the Life Sciences division leads the G&H Life Sciences sales team in the US, Europe and APAC to drive top line growth, deliver annual revenue targets and create new business opportunities and design wins. The role focuses on creating and executing on sales plans, managing order intake and creating business development strategies, enabling the division’s vision for profitable revenue growth and new customer / product design wins across the business globally.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

  • Own sales and business development for the photonics division
  • Build, organize and lead a high performing Global Sales team capable of delivering and exceeding the fiscal and strategic revenue targets
  • Represent the Sales function to the President of the division and to the G&H Executive and Leadership teams as required
  • Optimize the sales channels and resources within G&H using distributors and/or representatives where appropriate
  • Lead the creation and own the annual revenue budget for G&H Life Sciences in conjunction with key stakeholders and manage its execution through appropriate sales and business development plans
  • Manage named account, opportunity funnel and design wins and report systematically and consistently on a divisional level and exec level.
  • Lead and optimize the division’s periodic sales reviews and ensure coordination and collaboration between Operations, Supply Chain and Engineering for enabling accurate forecasting and conversion to revenue as planned
  • Ensure that the G&H Life Sciences Sales team are using the company sales tools and CRM consistently
  • Closely work with R&D and Product Management in order to maintain, evolve and ultimately shape the G&H Life Sciences five-year growth plan in cooperation with the divisional leadership team
  • Identify, develop and maintain optimum ways of working across divisions by collaborating with sales leaders across the group
  • Provide insight on market trends and industry developments to proactively respond to market dynamics
  • Take personal responsibility for delivering high standards of customer service by anticipating, meeting and exceeding customer expectations
  • Ensure G&H values and brand are protected at all times.

Location & travel

  • Preferred Location: UK or US East Coast
  • Expected Travel: 50% travel

Requirements

Person Specification

  • Educated to degree level, ideally in a relevant technical, science, engineering or business discipline, or equivalent education gained through work experiences.
  • Industry knowledge of photonics required
  • Experience in a sales leader role with revenue responsibility > $50m+
  • Proven track record in revenue growth and creation of business opportunity funnel
  • Excellent leadership and motivational skills
  • Strong track record of leading a multi-national, multi-cultural teams
  • Strong process orientation and ability to drive continuous improvement across the commercial function
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build strong relationships
  • High level of gravitas and personal credibility
  • Excellent organization skills, focused on execution, with strong attention to detail.
