What You'll Do
As an intern in the Machine Learning Engineering internship program for Viasat, you will work alongside a diverse team of engineers dedicated to developing innovative, vertically integrated products and services for the future. Your primary focus will be developing tools to improve productivity and MLOps-related activities. You will collaborate with our expert machine learning engineers and data scientists to improve the efficiency of our AI workflows and develop high-quality full stack AI solutions that will have an enormous impact on multiple business areas, contributing to Viasat's success. We foster a learning culture that values inquiry, exploration, teamwork, and taking the initiative. Learning agility and adaptability are also highly regarded.

Base pay may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The day-to-day
You will work with various project teams dedicated to:
- Developing and maintaining the APIs serving our machine learning models
- Designing and building processes to deploy production models and monitor their quality and performance over time
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional engineering teams including data scientists, cloud engineers, data engineers, and software engineers
- You will work onsite at a Viasat office location for the duration of your 12 week internship. Viasat embraces a flexible work environment and onsite/hybrid work is determined by individual roles and teams.
- Housing and relocation assistance are available to interns pending eligibility.
- To ensure equity across our intern population, intern compensation is pre-determined based on a variety of factors including: role, location, and final graduation date. Intern compensation is non-negotiable.
Education Requirements:
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree or higher in Data Science, Applied Math, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering and/or a related field
- To be eligible for this position your final graduation date must fall between December 2025 and June 2026
- You must be available for the full duration of the 12-week internship program. Note limited exceptions may be granted. Viasat offers two options based on semester and quarter academic calendars:
- Cohort 1: May 20th, 2025 - August 15th, 2025
- Cohort 2: June 17th, 2025 - September 12th, 2025
- Experience with Machine Learning, Web API development in Python (e.g., Flask, FastAPI)
- Experience developing in cloud computing environments such as AWS, GCP etc.
- Exposure or project experience building end to end ML systems in cloud platforms such as AWS Sagemaker.
- US Citizenship required
- Experience using Python
- Passion for automation and building systems of systems
- Previous Viasat internship experience
