Job Location: UK Flexible (occasional requirement to be in the London Office)

Salary: £37,697 to £42,067 per annum

Hours: 35 per week

Contract Type: Permanent

We are looking for a talented and enthusiastic UX/UI Designer to join the Digital team at the British Red Cross.

A day in the life of a UX/UI Designer will involve:


  • Diving into user research to better understand user needs.
  • Guiding and supporting team members and colleagues in user-centered design practice's.
  • Creating prototypes and designs for digital tools helping people in crises.
  • Being the voice of the user during design and development using tests and user feedback to improve designs.
  • Assessing accessibility concerns on existing services and working with stakeholders and developers to improve these services, as well as making sure that new services/products follow accessibility guidelines.
  • Working with stakeholders and product teams, ensuring that the user perspective is kept front and centre at every step of product development.
  • Contributing to the design and development of a design system and component library.


To be a successful UX/UI Designer, you’ll need:


  • A versatile skillset – while it’s great to have an area of expertise, as a small team it would be beneficial to have a general appreciation across multiple areas of design.
  • Ability to show a high level of autonomy in the role.
  • A good working knowledge of best practices, tools and techniques across user-centred design, usability research and prototyping.
  • Experience in prototyping tools such as Figma or Sketch.
  • To be excellent at explaining ideas and presenting to a wide range of stakeholders.
  • A working knowledge of accessibility considerations, and the desire to champion accessible design with internal teams
  • Experience of working within a charity or public sector organisation. (Desirable)
