How You Will Contribute

  • Basic theoretical and/or practical knowledge of L0/L1 optical/transmission and/or Layer2-3 (IP protocols) and/or scripting/DevOps skills
  • Support service partners' engineers during project deployment
  • Review the Technical Deployment Package details with both Internal and External Resources to ensure that they are understood by all members of the Deployment Team
  • Serves as an escalation point for issues/problems related to the Technical Deployment Package contents. Works with the Pre-Sales, Customer, and Internal Ciena Groups to resolve any design or product-related issues and translates resolutions to the field
  • Responsible for archiving the As-Built Documentation Sets for future network upgrade support
  • Participates on Customer kick-off calls and provides support to the Deployment Project Managers
  • Provide technical guidance to the Presales Engineers to ensure that the Network Design meets both Customer and Serviceability requirements
  • Ability to work directly with various cross-functional groups to resolve issues and establish best practices
  • Good Customer Service interaction skills
  • Excellent English language written and verbal communications skills
  • Expert knowledge of MS Office applications (Visio, Excel, Power Point, etc.)
  • Ability to handle travel (approx. 25%)
  • Ability to work at night on maintenance windows (25%)
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to review and analyse project information quickly and accurately
  • Ability to take a conceptual design and develop a process to make it a reality
  • Communications/technology focused career goals

Key Technical Skills

  • Layer 0/1 Ciena or other vendor product knowledge and/or
  • Layer 2-3 knowledge, and/or
  • Scripting/DevOps skills (ie, Phyton, JAVA, Ansible, etc.)

Education

  • B.S. Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, or a related field of discipline
