Technical Underwriting Manager – Home Based – ARD1034696

We’re on the hunt for a talented Technical Underwriting Manager to enhance our Commercial Marine and Marine Trade underwriting capabilities without our MGA. In this pivotal role, you will work closely with our Head of Marine & Leisure, as well as our Technical and Operational underwriting teams, to drive business initiatives and projects that boost revenue opportunities. You will focus on strengthening our underwriting framework. This is an exciting opportunity to make a significant impact on our company’s success here at Geo Underwriting.

What will you do here as a Technical Underwriting Manager?

Responsibilities

This is an overview and not an exhaustive list of responsibilities. Collaborating with your Line Manager, you will develop your own objectives but focus on all of the following and more:

  • Lead technical underwriting for Commercial Marine and Marine Trade to ensure successful project delivery and key account performance.
  • Assist the Head of Marine & Leisure with capacity management, including performance monitoring, MI analysis and underwriting footprint improvement.
  • Support the business strategy by recommending capacity and product adjustments for growth and efficiency.
  • Produce and report MI to guide management decisions.
  • Manage and update all commercial underwriting guides, manuals and product knowledge resources.
  • Engage strategically with brokers to drive new initiatives and align with underwriting goals.
  • Monitor loss ratios and ensure portfolio metrics are met with the operation underwriting team.
  • Analyse claims data to refine underwriting, and update policy wordings.
  • Review and update system requirements, conduct underwriting testing, and ensure policy wording aligns with current market trends.
  • Integrate technical underwriting into new business initiatives, including international marine exposure.
  • Aid in the integration of acquisition targets that enhance our business structure.

Who we are looking for to be our next Technical Underwriting Manager?

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in management of Commercial Marine/Marine Trade Underwriting teams.
  • Core Pricing/Underwriting background.
  • Experience of project implementation.
  • Experience in people management including motivation, coaching, development and performance management.
  • Results driven, with a strong commercial acumen in a fast-paced environment.
