CORE RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS

The Area Continuous Improvement Manager is responsible for supporting the facilities in the region in the creation and implementation of Sherwin Williams CI culture. The Area CI Manager works closely with various manufacturing or distribution sites to understand current state processes and improve on them to attain monetary, time, or moral benefits. This resource will be the main point of contact for coaching and training of CI strategies and needs for the facilities or operational areas.

Responsibilities

Major Tasks Performed:

  • Increase the transparency of Operations by ensuring robust measurement of losses for all areas of Operations e.g. generation of appropriate loss trees.
  • Increase productivity within Operations by leading usage of the appropriate lean tools, six sigma methodology, etc. (e.g. value stream mapping, 5S, Kanban) to eliminate losses such as delay, duplication, unnecessary movement, unclear communication, incorrect inventory, and product defects.
  • Coach the operational teams in continuous improvement techniques and help them cascade this approach to their teams to develop a proactive continuous improvement culture.
  • Develop training programmes and undertake training in the use of continuous improvement tools.
  • Assist facilities with the maintenance of their respective continuous improvement projects in the Onbase database.
  • Assist sites with scoping of CI projects and analysis and improvement of current processes
  • Reviews implementation requirements to understand site personnel or resource requirements and negotiate with the involved areas.
  • Build and lead the implementation plans for each specific facility to maintain the 5 yr plans for Standard Work and other CI initiatives
  • Audit sites for certification or sustainability of CI certifications.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Ensure effective communication and understanding of the CI goals and strategies.

Qualifications

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

FORMAL EDUCATION: :

  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering field or equivalent professional qualification
  • Industrial Engineering Degree

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:

  • Organized. Excellent communication skills. Goal oriented. Team player.
  • Preferred:
  • Project Management skills
  • Continuous Improvement Background (Six Sigma or Lean)

TECHNICAL/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Project Experience of continuous improvement working using and coaching CI tools and techniques.
  • Experience of using the TPM framework for improvement within a factory.
  • Experience of working in a consumer goods manufacturing environment
  • Strong financial and commercial awareness, with a good understanding of all functional areas within the business.
  • Demonstration of: strong leadership through influencing and coaching; ability to communicate to all levels; energetic passion for creative but appropriate improvement; enthusiasm and patience to develop others; objective analytical style; a strong team work ethic.
  • 2 years manufacturing experience
