About The Role

As the Revenue Marketing Lead for Retail focused on Sales Enablement & Upmarket Initiatives, you’ll create and execute the strategy + narratives that empower our sales & commercial teams to bring more large Retail businesses to Shopify. You’ll work to gain a strong understanding of our upmarket Retail audience segments and the competitor set to develop powerful solution narratives that attract companies to Shopify’s products for Retailers, with a primary focus on Shopify Point of Sale.

You’ll act as the primary marketing stakeholder supporting the Retail sales, events, and partner marketing teams, working with them to identify gaps and opportunities in our strategy, content, and communications.

You’ll own and foster critical relationships with leaders across sales, marketing, product, customer success to develop and improve our solution narratives, product positioning/messaging, event programming, partner narratives, and sales enablement assets.

This is an individual contributor role on one of the fastest growing teams at Shopify. You must be willing to roll up your sleeves and create + execute projects yourself.

You’ll get to do things like:

  • Own the annual planning of objectives, priorities, and budget that empower our commercial teams to convert prospects into customers, providing insightful summaries on how we’re tracking against those plans, and pivoting when needed to hit targets.
  • Forge high utility relationships with the sales organization, maintaining a two-way partnership designed to share insights, level up sales conversations, and create best in class enablement
  • Develop the solution narratives and positioning that differentiates Shopify’s retail products and features by understanding merchant needs, the product roadmap, and market trends in Retail, eCommerce, and Payments
  • Craft and implement holistic enablement strategies, assets/content, and tooling that will drive commercial and partner outcomes (including sales enablement software/tools, content creation tools, measurement/tracking tools, etc).
  • Develop new strategies and tactics for attracting, nurturing, and converting upmarket Retail prospects, including longer term initiatives like forming customer advisory boards/councils, industry roundtables, events, webinars, and other programming.
  • Gain a deep understanding of the market landscape for our target segments, uncovering opportunities and pitfalls for the broader Retail team as a whole.


Qualifications

  • Minimum of 7 years experience in a product marketing, marketing, or commercial role.
  • A strong understanding of marketing B2B SaaS products to large businesses
  • A strong understanding of B2B marketing strategy and tactics and experience leading and/or supporting large industry events, vertical-based or solution-based selling, and account based marketing.
  • Strong experience of working closely with commercial teams (sales, demand generation, events marketing, partner marketing, revenue operations, and customer success)
  • Experience driving global marketing and/or growth strategies
  • Experience leading or working within large cross functional teams
  • The ability to thrive in chaos and think quickly on your feet
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills with great attention to detail
  • A resourceful attitude and strong influencing skills, you'll be working with a lot of different teams across Shopify and external partners


It’d be great if you also had:

  • Experience working in Retail technology and/or services
  • Experience owning and delivering towards monthly marketing targets
  • Experience using Shopify or any ‘like’ Retail & eCommerce platforms is a plus
  • Experience using data/analytics to measure the impact of your work
  • No fear when it comes to diving in head first with limited direction
  • A “get shit done” attitude
