About The Role

As a Development Operations Engineer, you'll be pivotal in maintaining and optimising our technical infrastructure to support the diverse needs of our sales, success, and support teams. Your role encompasses ensuring the stability, efficiency, and continuous improvement of our development operations.

Your primary focus is on delivering high-quality products and supporting the engineering team in adhering to best practices. This involves not only coding and system administration but also the management and optimisation of our infrastructure.

Crucial to our increasing development velocity, this role ensures the stable delivery of code to our customers.

We are currently leveraging Azure, with plans underway to migrate to AWS. Experience with Azure is advantageous, while familiarity with AWS is highly desirable as we progress through this transition period.

We're seeking a versatile generalist with comprehensive knowledge spanning development and operations, encompassing coding, infrastructure management, system administration, and DevOps toolchains.

Key Responsibilities

Spearhead efforts to future-proof development operations by maintaining a delicate equilibrium between pace and rigour.

Champion the delivery of high-quality products, supporting the engineering team in adhering to best practices.

Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to streamline processes and enhance efficiency.

Facilitate the seamless integration of development and operations workflows, ensuring smooth code delivery.

Optimise development pipelines through automation to increase efficiency and reliability.

Act as a bridge between development and operations, fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing, including sharing best practices related to infrastructure management.

Continuously monitor and improve system performance, scalability, and reliability, with a focus on both code and infrastructure.

Implement and maintain robust monitoring and alerting systems to ensure early detection of issues.

Provide support and guidance to the engineering team, promoting a culture of continuous improvement and learning.

Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies, incorporating relevant advancements into our practices, both for code and infrastructure management.

Experience/Skills Required

Proven experience in development operations or related fields, with a focus on balancing speed and precision.

Demonstrable expertise in coding, infrastructure management, system administration, and DevOps toolchains.

Strong understanding of development methodologies, processes, and best practices.

Proficiency in scripting and automation, with experience in languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell.

Familiarity with containerization technologies such as Docker and orchestration tools like Kubernetes.

Experience with configuration management tools such as Ansible, Puppet, or Chef.

Solid grasp of cloud platforms such as Azure (current) and AWS (future).

Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex issues efficiently.

Effective communication skills for collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Proactive mindset with a commitment to continuous improvement and learning.

Nice To Have

Certification in relevant areas such as AWS Certified DevOps Engineer or Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA).

Experience with CI/CD pipelines and related tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, or CircleCI.

Knowledge of infrastructure as code (IaC) principles and tools like Terraform.

Understanding of monitoring and observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, or ELK stack.
