Position Summary: The Energy Program Assistant provides administrative and limited client-facing support to the Energy Assistance Programs at Community Action Center. This role ensures smooth program operations, assists with data entry, program reporting, supports outreach efforts, and helps clients access services while maintaining professionalism, empathy, and confidentiality. Reports directly to the Energy Assistance Program Coordinator. This position is FT and IN PERSON
Requirements
Administrative Support
- Serve as primary data entry employee for all Energy Assistance Programs.
- Scan, upload, and file program documents; maintain accurate records.
- Assist with mailings, flyers, and outreach communications.
- Support report preparation, including LIRAP and Project Share reports.
- Answer basic program questions from staff, clients, and vendors.
Outreach & Support
· Tabling for fairs, public events, and outreach locations.
- Contact outreach event locations as needed.
· Lift items up to 65 lbs. and perform light-to-moderate physical tasks.
· Retrieve items from storage and assemble conservation education bags.
Client-facing Support
· Assist with Thrift Shop Voucher appointments.
· Maintain good relations with all Thrift Shop contacts.
· Make cold calls to clients as needed.
· Provide coverage for emergency energy appointments as needed.
Other Duties
· Maintain and update social media pages.
· Serve as back-up receptionist as needed.
· Participate in required CAC trainings.
· Represent Energy/CAC at public meetings, hearings, program trainings, conferences, and other events as requested.
· Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Experience
¨ Required: High School Diploma, GED, or Equivalent.
¨ Preferred: Work Experience in social services programs or related volunteer work.
¨ Preferred: College Degree in Human Services, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field.

¨ Sensitivity to challenges faced by low-income populations, including barriers that may affect goal achievement.
¨ Ability to communicate effectively with individuals from diverse social and economic backgrounds.
¨ Strong customer service skills, including empathy, problem-solving, communication, active listening, patience, and professionalism.
¨ Proficiency in computer programs such as Outlook, Microsoft Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, Adobe PDF, VoIP phone systems, and basic database entry.
¨ Maintain professional and ethical conduct under pressure.
¨ Establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, co-workers, vendors, and partner agencies.
Certifications & Licenses
¨ Valid Driver’s License required.
¨ Successful completion of a criminal history background check & drug test.
Work Environment & Physical Activities
¨ Primarily sedentary office work with frequent sitting and occasional standing.
¨ Moderate lifting (up to 50 lbs.) will be required.
¨ Work may be conducted in the Pullman Office and at outreach events.
¨ Occasional driving within Whitman County and travelling to out-of-county conferences.
