Position Overview

We are currently seeking a full-time, skilled CAD Technologist with strong industrial and commercial drafting and design experience to join our development team. This role is responsible for developing Interior design tenant improvement packages across multiple provinces.
 
The successful candidate will refine and produce Interior design construction drawings in compliance with the BC Building Code. The role involves cleaning up and updating layouts provided by the interior design team and converting these layouts into 3D renders using SketchUp. Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD 2018+ and strong architectural drafting skills are required.

Key Responsibilities
  • Refine and produce detailed architectural and interior construction drawings based on designer-provided layouts.
  • Convert 2D layouts into 3D models and renders using software such as SketchUp.
  • Ensure all drawings and models comply with BC Building Code and relevant construction standards.
  • Collaborate closely with interior designers to maintain design intent while improving clarity and accuracy of technical drawings.
  • Maintain and organize CAD files, layers, and drawing standards to ensure consistency and accuracy across projects.
  • Update and modify existing layouts, including floor plans, elevations, and sections, based on project revisions.
  • Assist in preparing presentation materials and visualizations for clients and internal review.
  • Provide technical support to the interior design team, including material specifications, dimensions, and detailing.
  • Review drawings for constructability, identifying potential conflicts or design issues early.
  • Stay current with industry best practices, CAD techniques, and interior design trends.
Desired Skills and Experience
  • Completion of a 2- or 4-year technical diploma/degree in drafting, architectural technology.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in drafting and design for light industrial, commercial, or interior projects is an asset.
  • Familiarity with Building Permit drawings or an equivalent combination of training and professional experience.
  • Strong ability to read, interpret, and produce architectural, structural, mechanical and electrical drawings
  • Knowledge of general construction practices and applicable national, provincial, and local building codes, including BC Building Code.
  • Excellent organizational, project management, and planning skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
  • Proficient in computer-aided design (CAD)—specifically AutoCAD 2018+ and 3D SketchUp—as well as MS Office and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to anticipate and resolve design or constructability issues.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team of interior designers, architects, and other professionals.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to read, write, interpret, and analyze complex documents.
  • Capable of responding to time-sensitive drawing or site plan requests and addressing related inquiries from the interior design team.
