Job Title: Project Manager – HR Technology

Position Overview
The Project Manager will be responsible for leading complex HR Technology & Transformation initiatives within the Hitachi Group, with a primary focus on Workday global implementations and related HR TECHNOLOGY programs. The role will ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and in alignment with business objectives, applying best practices from Project Management methodologies, and Workday project frameworks.
This position requires strong project management skills, deep understanding of HR systems, and proven ability to manage cross-functional teams in a global, matrix environment. The Project Manager will act as the primary point of accountability, driving planning, execution, governance, and stakeholder alignment.
Key Responsibilities
Project Leadership & Governance
Lead end-to-end delivery of Workday and HR Transformation projects (Planning → Design → Build → Testing → Deployment → Go-Live → Hypercare).
Establish project governance, manage stage gates, and ensure adherence to Project Management and Workday methodologies.
Define, monitor, and report project KPIs, budgets, timelines, and scope.
Maintain RAID logs (Risks, Assumptions, Issues, Dependencies) and drive timely resolution/escalation.
Stakeholder & Team Management
Engage and align with global stakeholders, including HR, IT, Finance, and external vendors/partners (Workday, Accenture, Deloitte, etc.).
Manage cross-functional and multi-entity teams in a matrix organization, ensuring clarity of ownership and accountability.
Foster collaboration across regions, functions, and business units to achieve alignment.
Execution & Delivery
Develop and maintain integrated project plans using Smartsheet, and other PM tools.
Coordinate system integrations, data migration, testing cycles (UAT, E2E, regression), and cutover planning.
Ensure compliance with change management processes and quality assurance standards.
Oversee vendor delivery and ensure contractual obligations (SOW, milestones, deliverables) are met.
Communication & Reporting
Provide regular executive-level reporting (SteerCo decks, dashboards, progress summaries).
Ensure transparent communication across all levels of the organization.
Translate complex technical and functional updates into simple, actionable insights for senior leadership.
Risk, Compliance & Change Management
Identify and mitigate project risks, ensuring data privacy, compliance, and security requirements are met.
Partner with Change & Enablement teams to drive adoption strategies, training, and stakeholder readiness.
Support HR process optimization and adoption of digital HR solutions beyond Workday.
Qualifications & Skills
Required
Bachelor’s degree in business, IT, HR, or related field.
5+ years of project management experience (global HR TECHNOLOGY / HR Transformation programs strongly preferred).
Strong knowledge of Project Management practices and Workday project methodology.
Proven track record managing large-scale, multi-country HR TECHNOLOGY implementations.
Proficiency in MS Office Suite, Excel (advanced), Smartsheet, MS Project, PowerPoint and PPT.
Experience with project management tools like ADO (Azure DevOps), Workday, or other HR tools (SAP SuccessFactors, Oracle HCM, etc.) is a plus.
Strong stakeholder management, vendor management, and executive communication skills.
Ability to lead in a matrix organization with distributed teams across multiple geographies.
Preferred
Project Management Certification (or equivalent Workday experience).
Experience in digital transformation, cloud technologies, or HR process re-engineering.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and financial management skills.
