About the Department
NorthPoint Health & Wellness Center, a state-of-the-art multicultural, community-based medical and dental clinic, is seeking someone who enjoys working with the public, has effective communication skills, and a desire to help others while serving the community to join their Guest Services team as a Hmong bilingual Guest Services Representative that will be working in person.

Location and hours:
This position will be performed on-site at the NorthPoint Health & Wellness Center at 2220 Plymouth Avenue North, Minneapolis, MN 55411, satellite clinics at 800 West Broadway Avenue North, Minneapolis, MN 55411 and 1015 North 4th Street, Minneapolis, MN 55405. Work hours may vary, but will be Monday through Friday, between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. On a mandatory rotating basis, late shifts will include Tuesday and Thursday from 10:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. with Wednesday shifts possibly being added. Saturday shifts will be required from 8 a.m. - 12 p.m. on a rotating basis. New Employee Orientation (NEO) for all new benefit-earning employees is in-person in downtown Minneapolis. Details about NEO will be provided upon hire.

In this position, you will:
Acknowledge and greet patients on arrival, assist check in for appointments, notify providers via the scheduling system, and monitor patients in waiting area and lines to facilitate efficient patient flow.
Register new patients and schedule follow-up and referral appointments for patients’ medical, behavioral health, and optometry appointments by phone and in person within Epic Cadence and Prelude (EHR system). Register and schedule dental appointments in Dentrix (Wisdom/Epic, as of Dec 1, 2025).
Interview patients to obtain demographic information, verify and update as needed, and create new patient accounts.
Conduct pre-financial clearance to verify, obtain, and create accurate guarantor accounts and insurance. Verify insurance coverage, solicit financial information for each appointment to determine if patients qualify for NorthPoint discount slide and or other insurance enrollment programs, and direct patients to financial counselors.
Collect payments for co-pays and nominal fees and scan medical insurance cards.
Provide HIPAA and Data Privacy information to patients and document in Epic and Dentrix.
Arrange interpreter services for patients when scheduling appointments.
Provide Hmong interpreter services for patients.
Schedule NorthPoint transportation services for patients with scheduled appointments when applicable.
Assist with answering all incoming calls to clinic as needed.
Call and remind patients of their medical, dental, optometry, and behavioral appointments, as needed.
Call and schedule/reschedule patient appointments as needed from scheduling queues, referrals, check Epic in-baskets and Microsoft team chats for appointment requests from providers.
Perform opening and closing procedures including the end of day closing of cash register duties, and other duties as assigned.
Need to have:
- One of the following:
- Two years or more of office clerical experience.
- Two years or more of related post-high school education.
- 18 months or more of office clerical experience and completion of the Office Specialist Pathway Training program.
- One year or more of office clerical experience and completion of the Human Services Pathway Training Program.
- Ability to communicate fluently in Hmong in addition to English, both verbally and in writing.
- Experience:
- Using Epic, Dentrix, or other electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Performing front desk duties and handling confidential information.
- Working in guest relations, at a front desk or check-in, or another similar occupation.
- Delivering excellent customer service assisting people in person.
- Working with Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, Teams, and Word).
- Knowledge of HIPAA security and privacy regulations.
- Ability to:
- Effectively communicate face to face and via telephone with people who have limited English skills and/or non-English speaking customers.
- Work effectively and communicate with individuals from a variety of cultural and lifestyle backgrounds in a respectful and non-judgmental manner.
- Handle multiple complex and simultaneous tasks by setting priorities to meet deadlines.
- Provide excellent customer service skills with the ability to conduct oneself professionally and handle sensitive/difficult issues in a tactful manner.
- Interpret computerized reports, tables, and charts; process and integrate a variety of complex information from multiple sources.
- Code and classify information according to specific general guidelines and principles.
