About the Role
Are you ready to make a real impact? NV Energy is seeking a Senior HR Business Partner to join our dynamic team. In this strategic role, you’ll be a trusted advisor to business leaders, driving initiatives that shape the future of our organization and empower our workforce.
You’ll operate as a true business partner with a generalist focus—tapping into all areas of human resources. If you are customer-oriented, a team player, and have the ability to apply analytical thinking, this is the role for you! You’ll work with employees at all levels—senior executives, middle management, and front-line employees.
We are a lean organization with four Sr. HR Business Partners supporting the company, which means this role has a little bit of everything—from high-level strategy work with senior leaders, mentoring employees, to some necessary transactional activities.
What You’ll Do
- Partner with business unit leaders to provide strategic HR support.
- Act as the primary HR contact for employees and leaders in assigned business units.
- Advise and counsel on talent acquisition, employee relations, labor relations, talent development, performance management, policy interpretation, and compensation.
- Provide expertise on HR policies, compensation plans, benefit programs, EEO, collective bargaining agreements, and labor/employment laws.
- Ensure alignment of HR strategy and business goals on organizational planning, succession planning, workforce optimization, performance management, and change management.
- Collaborate with leaders, labor relations, and union representatives for special labor agreements and grievance resolution.
- Partner with learning teams to identify development needs and facilitate training programs.
- Investigate employee complaints (EEO, harassment, discrimination, retaliation) and prepare comprehensive reports.
- Lead employees through the ADA interactive process for reasonable accommodations.
- Represent the company in grievances, arbitrations, and external charges.
- Lead and/or participate in HR initiatives and projects.
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree and 6+ years of related experience (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
- Proven ability to identify HR solutions and advise managers on employee relations issues.
- Strong knowledge of labor and employment law.
- Excellent critical thinking, problem-solving, conflict resolution, and communication skills.
- Ability to influence and build strong relationships with leadership teams.
- High level of business acumen and strategic thinking.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
- Familiarity with HRIS systems such as Oracle or Workday.
- Experience with unionized workforces preferred.
Work Environment & Travel
General office environment. No physical demands. We are an office-first work environment due to the nature of our business, and this position requires working in-office. Travel to Reno facilities required and occasional travel to other NV locations (Las Vegas, Elko, Winnemucca, etc.).
