Job Summary: The Director-Social Services participates in strategic planning and implementation activities in support of the Behavioral Medicine Center and the organizations mission, vision, and values.  Implements and maintains established clinical standards of Clinical Therapists and Social Work.  Provides oversight for day-to-day social services operations, including: psychosocial assessments, OT, treatment plans, therapeutic interventions, individual and family therapy, and discharge planning.  Ensures Social Services programs provide quality, patient-centric care and are in compliance with applicable law, regulatory requirements, and hospital policies.  Oversees the quality and appropriateness of social services provided.  Monitors and coordinates high risk circumstances as required.  Ensures positive collaborative relationships with other departments, physicians, and outside agencies.  Monitors staffing, productivity, and budget.  Creates a work environment of caring and cooperation among a culturally diverse workforce and patient population.  Performs other duties as needed.

Education and Experience: Master's Degree in Social Work required; experience which has provided opportunity to demonstrate competencies in leadership, clinical care, administration, education, and/or staff development required.  Behavioral Health background preferred.

Knowledge and Skills: Knowledge of healthcare law and finance required.  Broad knowledge of quality, patient safety, performance improvement, regulatory requirements, medical staff structure, peer review and legal aspects of care.  Able to read; write legibly; speak in English with professional quality; use computer, printer, and software programs necessary to the position (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).  Ability to establish effective relationships with supervisor, other employees, patients (as appropriate) and outside agencies; ability to maintain confidentiality; ability to diffuse aggravated situations with patients and families; Able to relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others; provide leadership; be assertive and consistent in enforcing policies; work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure; lead, supervise, teach, and collaborate; accept direction.  Ability to concentrate on several assignments simultaneously; edit, organize and prioritize; work without supervision; Able to communicate effectively in English in person, in writing, and on the telephone; think critically; work independently; perform basic math and statistical functions; manage multiple assignments; compose written material; work well under pressure; problem solve; recall information with accuracy; pay close attention to detail.  Able to distinguish colors as necessary; hear sufficiently for general conversation in person and on the telephone, and identify and distinguish various sounds associated with the workplace; see adequately to read computer screens, and written documents necessary to the position.

Licensures and Certifications: Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) required.
