Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented construction cost driver to lead cost control and cost reduction for the Amkor Technology Arizona construction project. This role requires strong cross-functional collaboration with internal facility and financial teams, as well as assessing alternatives and driving cost aware decisions between internal teams and external construction management and contractors. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in cost management methodology and a proactive approach to cost optimization across the project lifecycle. This role will expand with Phase 2 of construction and grow into other responsibilities as the construction phase winds down.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Develop and manage detailed construction cost estimates from concept through closeout.
• Ensure Amkor is not over-paying for value received.
• Monitor project budgets, track expenditures, and forecast future costs.
• Review and validate contractor and vendor cost proposals, change orders, and invoices.
• Collaborate with internal teams (Facilities, Finance, Procurement, Engineering) to align on scope, cost, priorities, and timely decision-making.
• Partner with external construction managers and general contractors to ensure cost transparency and accountability.
• Conduct cost risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies.
• Prepare and present updates to stakeholders and executive leadership.
• Support contract negotiations and procurement strategies from a cost perspective.
Cost Optimization Strategies:
• Value Engineering: Identify and evaluate alternative materials, systems, and construction methods to reduce costs without compromising quality or performance.
• Benchmarking: Leverage historical data and industry benchmarks to validate estimates and identify cost-saving opportunities.
• Change Order Management: Implement rigorous controls to minimize scope creep and ensure all changes are justified and competitively priced.
• Early Cost Involvement: Engage in early project planning to influence design decisions that impact cost efficiency.
• Procurement Strategy Alignment: Collaborate with procurement to bundle packages, negotiate favorable terms, and leverage economies of scale.
• Schedule-Cost Integration: Coordinate with project schedulers to align timelines with cost impacts, avoiding delays and associated premiums.
Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Finance, or related field.
• 15+ years in construction cost management.
• Demonstrated experience managing budgets for large-scale commercial, industrial, or institutional projects.
• Proven ability to work cross-functionally and with external construction partners.
• Familiarity with construction contracts (e.g., GMP, lump sum, cost-plus).
• Proficiency with cost management software.
• Strong drive for results (schedule, financial).
• Strong and demonstrated analytical skills.
• Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.
• High attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects.
Preferred Qualifications:
