Summary: The IT Specialist provides technical support and expertise to ensure the smooth operation, security, and efficiency of East Lawn’s technology systems across all locations. This position is responsible for troubleshooting hardware, software, and network issues; installing and maintaining equipment; and implementing security measures to protect digital assets and data. The IT Specialist also monitors system performance, develops user training materials, and maintains accurate technical documentation. This role requires professionalism, collaboration, and adherence to East Lawn’s Mission Statement and Values while providing exceptional service to staff and supporting the organization’s operational needs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.
- Provide a professional approach and decorum with customers and fellow staff members and adhere to East Lawn’s Mission Statement and Values.
- Provide day-to-day technical assistance to employees, including troubleshooting hardware, software, and network problems.
- Install, configure, and update software and hardware; perform regular maintenance on servers, networks and other IT equipment and ensure critical security patches are applied.
- Monitor network performance, troubleshoot network issues, and ensure the stability and security of local area networks (LAN) and wide area networks (WAN). Maintain uptime, reliability, and optimal network performance.
- Implement security measures, assist with security audits, and help enforce policies to protect digital assets and data.
- Configure and maintain firewalls, VPNs, and routers.
- Implement security measures, assist with security audits, and help enforce policies to protect digital assets and data. Create and manage users accounts, permissions, group policies, and network authentication.
- Create and maintain technical documentation for procedure, processes, and systems. Develop and deliver end-user training materials.
- Analyze system performance, identify areas for improvement, and implement solutions to enhance efficiency.
- Assist in planning and evaluating new systems, equipment, and applications. Participate in the full systems development lifecycle, from planning to deployment.
- Oversee the procurement, setup, and secure disposal of IT equipment.
- Maintain accurate inventory of hardware, software licenses, and other IT assets.
- Assist in IT-related projects including migrations, upgrades, and new software rollouts.
- Provide training to end users.
- Communicate system updates, outages, and security advisories clearly and promptly.
- Other duties as required.

Requirements
Education/Experience
- Associate degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or Information Systems.
- Year of Experience: 3-5 years in IT support and systems administration.
Certificates and Licenses
- Valid Driver’s License with a clean driving record.
- Microsoft Certified Windows Client, Windows Administration and CCNA are all pluses.
Math Ability
- College level algebra and statistics.
- Basic business math and logic.
Computer Skills
- Microsoft Windows 10/11.
- Windows server 2016-2022 on premise and cloud.
- Remote Desktop Services (RDS) and Virtual Private Network (VPN) technologies to support remote access.
- Knowledge of Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS). “Data privacy” expands this to include handling of sensitive personal information (e.g., under California Consumer Privacy Act, CCPA).
- Knowledge of Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP), Domain Name System (DNS), Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP), Virtual Local Area Networks (VLANS).
- Mobile App Management.
- Cloud basics including virtual machines, software defined networks, and scripting (PowerShell, Bash or Python).
- Intermediate to advanced skills with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, Share Point and OneDrive) are required.
- CRM system and industrial software.

This position may rotate among all East Lawn locations as business needs require. The primary work environment is a standard office setting with typical business equipment and frequent telephone and computer use. The employee may also work in server rooms or maintenance areas where temperatures can vary, and space may be confined. The noise level is usually moderate. Occasional travel to vendor sites or other company facilities may be required.

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to sit for extended periods while operating computers or performing technical work. The employee must also walk, bend, kneel, or squat to access equipment located under desks, behind workstations, or in confined areas such as server rooms or network closets. The employee may reach overhead and occasionally use ladders or step stools to install or maintain cables, routers, or ceiling-mounted components. The position requires the ability to lift, carry, and move equipment such as computers, monitors, servers, and network hardware weighing up to approximately 75 pounds. The employee must use hands and fingers to handle, install, and connect small components and cables with precision, as well as to operate standard office equipment and perform regular keyboarding tasks.
The employee is required to drive to multiple East Lawn locations or vendor sites to provide on-site technical support, deliver equipment, or perform installations and maintenance. Visual acuity, hearing, and clear verbal communication are necessary to view detailed information on screens, communicate with others, and ensure accuracy and safety in performing technical tasks.
