Educate Texas (EDTX), an initiative of Communities Foundation of Texas (CFT), exists to help solve the most significant challenges facing public education. Your role: 

The Deputy Director for Transfer and Credit Mobility leads efforts through the Texas Transfer Alliance to align pathways through degree completion. This role will collaborate with cross-functional teams within colleges and universities to develop and support target pathways aligned with Texas Direct Fields of Study. The deputy will collaborate with technical assistance providers and higher education leaders across Texas on various projects to improve student transfer and degree program applicability. The deputy facilitates and successfully manages partnerships between universities, community colleges, and school districts. They will support the development and implementation of support systems for transfer students.  

The position will be based in Dallas, and the successful candidate must reside locally or be willing to relocate. Candidates must be willing to travel overnight (both in/out of state) up to 25% of the time.   

 

What you’ll do: 

  • Collaborate with Educate Texas leadership and technical assistance providers to map and align target pathways across colleges and universities.
  • Facilitate collaboration between school districts, community colleges, and universities to ensure course sequences meet dual credit, associate degree, and transfer requirements for baccalaureate degrees.
  • Maintain target pathways documentation across regions for various fields of study.
  • Problem-solving with higher education institutions to ensure applicability of transfer credits for degree requirements. 
  • Coordinate with enrollment management professionals in colleges and universities to verify and maintain articulation agreements.
  • Collaborate to develop and deploy transfer planning tools and resources for students.
  • Work with college and university leaders to ensure that financial aid, advising services, and student support systems are made accessible to transfer students.
  • Support internal and external communication to elevate Texas Transfer Alliance successes. 
  • Implement processes in collaboration with Strategy and Insights to track and report key performance indicators (KPIs) such as transfer success and degree completion. 

 

Experience you bring: 

  • Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree highly preferred  
  • 5 years of program management experience in higher education educational settings
  • Experience with transfer programming in higher education 
  • Knowledge of Texas higher education, especially transfer and degree rules, is highly preferred 
  • Experience administering competitive RFP processes and subgrant management is preferred
  • Experience collaborating on large projects and programs with multiple stakeholders 
  • Ability to contribute in a cross-functional team environment 
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to communicate openly and work collaboratively within and across teams  
  • Proficient or expert skills using PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Outlook, SharePoint 
  • Exemplary project management skills 
  • Exceptional written, presentation and verbal skills 
  • Agility to work in a fast-paced environment where each day may look different 
  • Commitment to developing solutions to support underserved student success 
  • Proficient data collection, analysis, and synthesis skills to support data-informed program decisions and strategy  
  • Knowledge of current research, trends, and innovations in higher education and workforce

Success in this Role looks like:  

  • Building and sustaining strong partnerships among school districts, community colleges, and universities to ensure aligned course sequences and transfer pathways that support student progression and degree completion.
  • Leading the development and maintenance of clearly mapped, regionally relevant transfer pathways aligned with Texas Direct Fields of Study, ensuring consistent applicability of credits across institutions.
  • Implementing accessible advising, financial aid strategies, and planning tools that empower transfer students to navigate their academic journeys with clarity and confidence.
  • Establishing and monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs) such as transfer success and degree completion, using insights to inform strategy and improve outcomes.
  • Elevating the work of the Texas Transfer Alliance through compelling internal and external communications, while modeling CFT’s core competencies and contributing to a collaborative, high-performing team culture.
