The Director of Marketing & Communications (DOMC) serves as a member of Habitat for Humanity of Forsyth County’s leadership team and leads the organization’s comprehensive marketing, communications, and brand strategy. Reporting directly to the CEO, this position drives visibility, engagement, and mission-based storytelling to advance Habitat Forsyth’s strategic goals.
The DOMC leads organization-wide marketing efforts to grow audiences, deepen community engagement, and support outreach to prospective homeowners, volunteers, donors, and partners. This role oversees all aspects of marketing and communications — from strategic planning and creative development to digital engagement and media relations — ensuring consistent, compelling, and accessible messaging across every platform.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
- Partner with the CEO and Executive Leadership Team to develop and execute a unified marketing and communications strategy that aligns with the affiliate’s mission and strategic plan.
- Provide leadership, vision, and direction for all marketing, branding, and public relations initiatives.
- Manage the department’s annual budget, priorities, and resources to ensure effective and efficient marketing investments.
- Serve as an internal communications advisor to departments across the organization, integrating marketing support into all program areas.
- Promote a culture of collaboration, creativity, accountability, and continuous improvement across teams.
Brand & Message Management
- Lead the planning, development, and implementation of a comprehensive multi-year marketing and communications plan.
- Ensure brand consistency, visual integrity, and message cohesion across all communication channels.
- Strengthen Habitat Forsyth’s brand as a trusted leader in affordable housing, neighborhood revitalization, and community engagement.
- Protect and enhance the affiliate’s reputation through strategic storytelling, public relations, and thought leadership.
Content Strategy & Creative Direction
- Oversee content strategy and design for all digital platforms, including the website, social media, email marketing, and paid digital advertising.
- Plan and execute multimedia marketing campaigns for major initiatives and events, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
- Develop creative assets including newsletters, annual reports, videos, print publications, and branded collateral in accordance with accessibility and brand guidelines.
- Supervise external creative professionals and vendors in graphic design, copywriting, photography, and video production.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Construction, ReStore Retail, Philanthropy, and Family Services teams to ensure messaging supports and amplifies program goals.
- Lead marketing strategies that drive engagement and sales for Habitat Forsyth’s ReStores, emphasizing their direct connection to the organization’s mission.
Public Relations & Media Engagement
- Serve as the primary media contact for the organization.
- Build and maintain relationships with local and regional media outlets to ensure consistent, accurate, and meaningful coverage.
- Draft and distribute press releases, op-eds, feature stories, and event announcements that highlight Habitat’s impact and partnerships.
- Coordinate and support public events, dedications, and community celebrations to strengthen visibility and relationships.
Digital Engagement & Analytics
- Oversee digital marketing initiatives and performance across all platforms, ensuring a strong and mission-aligned online presence.
- Manage website content, structure, and analytics to improve user experience and accessibility.
- Use performance data and digital analytics to track engagement, measure ROI, and inform ongoing marketing strategies.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or related field (Master’s preferred).
- Minimum of 5–7 years of progressive experience in marketing and communications leadership, preferably within a nonprofit or mission-driven organization.
- Demonstrated success in developing and executing brand, marketing, and content strategies.
- Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills across multiple platforms.
- Strong understanding of digital marketing, web management, analytics, and paid media.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and external creative teams in a fast-paced environment.
- Collaborative leadership style with excellent interpersonal and project management skills.

Hours of Operation: Monday-Friday 9am-5pm with occasional evenings and weekends as required.

•Four-year college degree preferred in Marketing, Communications, or related field.
•Experience in digital marketing platforms including Constant Contact, WordPress, and social media.
•Advanced competency of computers and software in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator & Photoshop) and MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Teams) required.
•Possess a good understanding of digital marketing techniques.
•Core understanding of analytics and how to use data to drive content and campaign decisions.
•Ability to bring brand stories to life in the social space.
•Experience with photography and video production a plus but not required.
•Ability to express ideas clearly, concisely, logically, orally, and in writing.
•Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
•Ability to relate well to diverse populations - age, race, class, gender, and creed - while maintaining confidentiality as required.
•Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
•Strong time-management and organizational skills; able to manage multiple priorities.
•Valid Driver's License and reliable transportation.
