GENERAL DESCRIPTION 

The Assistant Director of Admission for Strategic Initiatives serves as a key partner to the admissions leadership team, supporting the execution of high-impact recruitment strategies and cross-campus collaborations. This role bridges operational support with strategic planning by coordinating initiatives that enhance student recruitment, yield, and retention. The position works closely with academic departments, student services, communications, and data teams to align admissions efforts with institutional priorities. Responsibilities include managing special projects, supporting counselor training, representing the Office of Admission in campus working groups and committees, and providing administrative support to the Strategic Enrollment Management (SEM) Committee to ensure seamless communication and execution of enrollment goals.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Support the development and execution of strategic recruitment and yield initiatives in alignment with institutional enrollment goals set forth by the Strategic Enrollment Management Team. Provide administrative support to the Strategic Enrollment Management Team, including documentation, dedicated SharePoint site, and follow-up on action items.
  • Represent the office of Admission in college wide working groups or committees. Ensure communication and college changes are integrated into recruitment strategies, such as new student working group.
  • Manage and lead special projects that enhance recruitment operations, such as Pitzer Insights, Classroom Visits, student engagement and cross-functional colloboration and serve as the faculty liaison.
  • Collaborate with the associate director of admission marketing and communications to enhance Pitzer visibility.
  • Collaborate with the AVP of Admission and Financial Aid to support athlete recruitment.
  • Ensure the campus visit experience and virtual experience for prospective students aligns with the Pitzer vision and mission, including group visits with community-based organizations.
  • Lead for the tuition exchange program on the admission side to help promote, report and assess partnerships.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with academic departments, student services, and other campus offices to support integrated enrollment strategies, with a special focus on special population hand-off (Pathway to BA, New Resources, Transfers).
  • Back-up for local recruitment travel as needed.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

The individual must possess knowledge, skills and ability to be able to successfully perform the essential functions of the position or be able to explain or demonstrate how the essential functions will be performed, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities.

  • Cross-Functional colloboration skills. Proven ability to sustain effective cross-campus partnerships.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to foster a growth and agile environment.
  • Fluency in CRM systems and digital communication tools.
  • Expertise in the full Microsoft suite, Power BI, Excel, PowerPoint and Adobe.
  • Strong project management skills, including the ability to coordinate multiple initiatives, manage timelines, and ensure follow-through on strategic goals.
  • .Maintaining strict confidentiality is a critical aspect of this position.
  • Demonstrates superior customer service, resourcefulness and discretion.
  • Develops and maintains knowledge of department policies, procedures and guidelines, general College information, and department contacts.
  • Ability to supervise and coordinate the work of student or temporary employees when needed.
  • Strong leadership and collaboration skills with a commitment to a team-based work environment.
  • Natural aptitude for technology and expertise with MS Office, including expert level use of Excel.
  • Ability to problem-solve and use analytical skills to develop and implement creative solutions.
  • Ability to take initiative to work proactively, meet deadlines, organize and prioritize multiple projects, think strategically, and work with numbers and data.
  • Exhibit personal integrity and ability to appropriately handle confidential and sensitive information.
  • Exhibit a positive attitude, strong work ethic, and sound professional judgment.

Education/Experience: A bachelor’s degree is required. A minimum of 5 years’ experience in higher education and experience in programming events, cross-campus collaboration and student services.

Preference: Experience with Technosolutions Slate CRM preferred. Masters and/or PMP.

Time Type: Full-Time

Work Schedule: This is a regular, full-time, exempt staff position, working 12 months per year. The regular schedule for this position is Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Hours may vary depending on the operational needs of the College or department, including evenings and weekends as required.

Word Model: Hybrid (4 days in office, 1 day remote)

  • Must have access to reliable and secure computer and internet connection.
  • Must have access to a dedicated and suitable workstation at remote location, including desk or table and supporting, upright chair.
  • Must ensure workstation is safe and free from hazards.

Compensation: Budgeted Salary Range: $72,000-$76,000 per year

The salary for the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to internal equity, experience, education, specialty, and training.

Physical Requirements:  This is generally a sedentary position. 

  • Must be able to sit for prolonged periods of time and operate a computer for prolonged periods of time.
  • Standing, walking (on normal or uneven surfaces), reaching, or lifting items up to 20 pounds
