The Logistics Coordinator is responsible for freight/ logistics analysis and improvements, as well as dealing with material flow to and from the plants. This role will support the purchasing and process improvement project management throughout the organization. In this role, you will be focused on data, analysis, reporting, and other activities focusing on and leading towards organizational awareness/ communication and ultimately cost savings.
What you will do for UGN:
- Develop and recommend an overall Freight Management strategy to include carrier and third-party logistics providers
- Responsible for the daily management of logistics providers in coordination with the plant Materials departments.
- Collaborate with other departments to integrate logistics with business systems or processes, such as customer sales, order management, accounting, or shipping.
- Negotiate with suppliers or customers to improve supply chain efficiency or sustainability.
- Direct inbound or outbound logistics operations, such as transportation or warehouse activities, safety performance, or logistics quality
- Analyze the financial impact of proposed logistics changes, such as routing, shipping modes, product volumes, or carriers.
- Responsible as subject matter expert for all Import/Export shipment management, documentation, and/or coordination as requested for commercial resolution
- Responsible for overall shipment documentation compliance
- Manage freight RFQs for all US and Global inquiries, including special product and/or equipment
- Manage and update carrier rates
- Coordinate invoicing issues and coding follow-up (internally and externally)
- Assist in cost analysis efforts for continuous improvements
- Item-level Freight frequency and cost analysis and breakdown (for forecasting freight costs in the future)
- Create and manage an annualized freight budget for all UGN facilities.
What you will bring to UGN:
- Bachelor’s degree preferably in Supply Chain and Logistics.
- 2 + years of experience in international supply chain, logistics, materials, shipping, or inventory analysis.
- 2 + years of Import/Export experience
- Experience with Microsoft Office Products – Word, Outlook, and Excel.
- Strong Excel skills, including pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, and macros.
- Strong analytical/data analysis skills preferred.
- Prefer a quick learner as well as a resourceful problem solver.
- Desire to learn and grow within the UGN organization.
- Travel required to various UGN plants as needed.
