Remarkable way you will make a difference...

  • Provides comprehensive music therapy assessment and treatment plan for each client served. 
  • Conducts regular home or clinic-based individual and/or group music therapy sessions for clients on caseload. 
  • Consults and collaborates with family and team members in support of client needs. 
  • Plans programming for group sessions in collaboration with team members.  
  • Interacts with clients to demonstrate respect, acknowledgement of rights, and dignity at all times.  
  • Keeps abreast of current treatment technology, literature, practices, and regulations.  
  • Takes pride and ownership in Damar’s facilities a nd assigned work areas. 
  • Seeks the best use of materials, equipment, and staff to maximize efficiency and effectiveness. 
  • Acts as a good steward of Damar and/or client finances.

What you need to be considered…

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in music therapy (or related field with academic and clinical training program for music therapy approved by the American Music Therapy Association) from an accredited program required
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working with individuals with challenging behaviors, developmental and/or emotional disabilities required.
  • One year of people management or clinical supervision experience preferred.
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications including: Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
  • Certification from the National Association of Music Therapists (MT-BC).
  • Minimum age of 18 per licensure requirements. 
  • Ability to pass and maintain Critical Moments Training (CMT) Certification.  
  • Ability to pass and maintain CPR Certification.  
  • Must meet and maintain background screening requirements for all Damar Programs as detailed in policy 1.HR.02 Pre-Employment and Employee Background Checks.  
  • Valid Indiana driver’s license and driving record that meets eligibility requirements of Damar’s insurance carrier (for all positions requiring driving) 
  • Successful completion of pre-employment physical required.

Essential Job Functions:

Physical: Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office setting; to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time; to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist; to lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight (up to 35lbs); to operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including use of a computer keyboard; to travel to other locations using various modes of private and commercial transportation; and to verbally communicate to exchange information.

Vision: See in the normal visual range with or without correction.

Hearing: Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction.
