About the Role
We are seeking a hands-on, motivated Safety and Environmental Compliance Coordinator to support and strengthen our company’s safety culture. The ideal candidate is proactive, detail-oriented, and confident working both in the field and in an office setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement and maintain safety and environmental compliance programs consistent with OSHA, EPA, DOT, MSHA, PHMSA, IRS, UST, NFPA, and other applicable oil & gas regulatory agencies
- Monitor correct use of personal protective equipment and assist in verifying that equipment is inspected, tagged, and used safely.
- Foster open communication and promote continuous improvement in safety and environmental performance through employee engagement and leadership support
- Complete all incident reporting in Carrier websites
- Develop, coordinate and deliver safety training programs (new hire orientation, hazard communication, confined space, PPE, environmental awareness, etc.)
- Conduct regular site inspections, environmental audits, and compliance assessments of production, transportation, and support operations
- Support incident investigations, root cause analysis, and ensure corrective and preventive measures are implemented
- Observe site operations for potential risks. Work with crews to develop solutions and verify implementation of corrective actions
- Coordinate all annual and as needed safety training/certification processes
- Maintain and update compliance with federal and state labor laws, posting requirements and OSHA Standards
- Manage background and drug screening procedures for new hires
- Manage random drug screen process
- Coordinate and conduct monthly safety meetings
- Work with managers and healthcare professionals to coordinate accommodations and return to work programs
- Worker’s Compensation claims management
- Manage and monitor all DOT requirements, company Fleet management, annual MVR, physical, etc.
- Monitor and track key safety and environmental KPIs (TRIR, spill rates, near misses, corrective action closure rates, etc.)
- Monitor daily driver safety and report incidents
- Record all safety-related activities, including meetings, inspections, observations, and incidents. Help monitor leading indicators and track trends.
- Coordinate underground storage tank compliance programs
- Assist in the preparation and review of permits, MSDS/SDS files, and environmental impact documentation
- Serve as a point of contact during regulatory inspections and audits
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Qualifications Education & Experience:
- Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, or related field (preferred).
- Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, DOT, PHMSA, and other oil & gas-related regulatory requirements.
- Familiarity with environmental management systems, safety management systems, and incident reporting systems.
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with ability to train, coach, and influence field personnel.
- Willingness to learn production, transportation and support operations.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and HSE management software.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet regulatory deadlines.
- 3-5 years in a similar Safety role
- OSHA 30 Certification (or willingness to obtain)
- CPR/First Aid Certified (or willingness to obtain)
Physical & Work Environment Requirements:
- Ability to work in both office and field environments, and production sites.
- Willingness to travel frequently to field sites and respond to emergencies as needed.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs, climb, walk, kneel, squat, push, pull and enter confined spaces.
