Summary:

General Ledger Staff Accountant, responsible for supporting and assisting senior accountants and director in accounting operations, maintaining general ledger and coordinating accounts within the CRM system. 


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepares journal entries, reconciliations, and analysis under the direction of the senior accountants and director.
  • Supports monthly accrual estimates for educational programs, board & committee meetings, and other.
  • Analyzes impact of foreign exchange on operations and prepares allocation on the balance sheet and income statement.
  • Maintains fixed asset database for all organizations.
  • Supports completion of general ledger and financial statements for sub-company(s).
  • Performs routine internal control audits of accounts payables, speaker and board reimbursements, staff expense and credit card reports.
  • Provides technical accounting support to other staff accountants.
  • Supports the department in the development of the annual budget.
  • Prepares workpapers and documentation requests for the annual audits and tax filings.
  • Makes process improvement recommendations.


Supervisory Responsibilities: 

No formal supervisory responsibilities; however, incumbent may be required to train/mentor more junior staff members.

Requirements

Required Education/ Experience: 

The International Foundation will always consider candidates with an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.  

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is required, CPA candidate optional.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience in accounting required.
  • Prior experience in budgeting, forecasting, supporting audits, and understanding of the impact of foreign exchange is preferred.


Minimum Qualifications/Skills: 

  • Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
  • General knowledge of CRM and Accounting Systems. Prior experience with Microsoft Dynamics and Great Plains is helpful, but not required.
  • Showcase excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Meticulous organization skills, attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and analysis.
  • Capable of both independent work and collaboration within a team environment.
  • Communicate effectively, displaying proficiency in both written and verbal communication. 
  • Thorough knowledge of internal controls and audit procedures. 
  • Familiarity with fixed asset accounting and maintenance.
  • Experience in preparing journal entries, reconciliations, and financial analysis.
  • Exhibit exceptional multitasking and adeptness in prioritizing tasks effectively. 
  • Proactive approach to identifying process improvements and implementing solutions. 


Travel Requirements: 

There is no anticipated required travel for this position; but if there was, it would only be up to 5% of the time.


Work Environment:

This position is expected to work from our corporate headquarters office in Brookfield, WI, Monday through Friday of each week. This is an office environment with typical office conditions, including lighting, noise, seating and equipment. Following a successful training period (and pending each individual's ability to effectively work from an appropriately-equipped home office, per the terms of the Hybrid Work Policy) incumbents may permitted to work remotely on Mondays and Fridays, as business needs allow, in up-to a 60/40 (onsite/remote) hybrid schedule. The Foundation reserves the right to modify or discontinue the current hybrid schedule at any time as business needs dictate.
