What You'll Do: Essential Responsibilities
Reporting to the Production Manager, you will be responsible for the daily operation of your assigned shift, ensuring we meet our company goals of Zero Defects and 100% On-Time Delivery in a cost-efficient manner.
Team Leadership and Development:
- Coach and mentor a team of approximately 15-20 direct reports, assigning daily duties and supporting the development and implementation of their training objectives.
- Act as the main liaison between employees and management, fostering open communication and commitment to the company's core values.
- Lead by example in maintaining a culture of continuous improvement, safety, and teamwork, making our facility an enjoyable place to work.
- Assist in all aspects of employee relations, including recruiting, interviewing, reviews, disciplinary actions, and managing time cards and overtime.
Production Oversight and Quality Assurance:
- Oversee daily production operations, ensuring all employees adhere to company quality standards to meet our goals of zero defects and 100% on-time delivery.
- Work with the Scheduler to determine production priorities, manage employee scheduling, and prepare necessary production paperwork.
- Ensure strict adherence to company safety standards for yourself and all team members.
- Maintain and submit all appropriate reports and documentation, including production cards and paperwork for spec changes.
Continuous Improvement and Compliance:
- Actively participate in Lean Manufacturing initiatives and maintain 5S standards, including daily housekeeping and an organized work area.
- Conduct and follow up on assigned Gemba/LPA/5S audits, studying and documenting work processes for potential improvement activities.
Requirements
What You'll Bring: Qualifications and Requirements
- Minimumof 2 years of Supervisory experience in a production environment (asuitable combination of education and experience will be considered).
- Proven Experience in Plastics Manufacturing is a must.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Demonstrated strength in coaching, mentoring, and conflict resolution.
- Strong organizational, time management, and follow-up skills.
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel).
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and Gemba principles.
- Strong problem-solving and critical thinking abilities.
- Ability to work independently, be reliable, and take ownership of responsibilities.
- Experience with ERP/MRP systems.
- Experience leading a team of 15-20 employees.
Physical Demands
- Must be able to frequently lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
- The work environment is a production floor with moderate noise levels.
- Required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) includes safety glasses, hearing protection, and closed-toe shoes on the production floor.
