The Case Investigator Senior in the Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities (SRR) provides thoughtful expertise to support student persistence and success. This position plays a significant role with the retention and success of students primarily via the determination of alleged violations of the Arizona Board of Regents (ABOR) Student Code of Conduct. The Investigator Senior engages with students, peers, and other members of the ASU community, with the goal of maintaining an environment that encourages reasoned discourse, intellectual honesty, openness to constructive change, and respect for the rights of all. The Investigator Senior may investigate individual student cases, student organization cases, Title IX cases, and any other cases that come before the Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities. This position reports to the Assistant or Associate Director of Student Rights and Responsibilities on the Tempe campus.

Essential Duties:
Investigates allegations of student misconduct with an emphasis on student development.
Monitors the progress of assigned cases to provide students the opportunity to consider the ways in which their conduct may define and impact their college experience, personally, and in relation to others.
Ensures students understand their rights and responsibilities and applying appropriate administrative actions, educational interventions, and/or disciplinary sanctions.
Ensures a complete investigative process while maintaining detailed letters and records, including the creation of comprehensive written investigative reports.
Collaborates with the Dean of Students, Office of General Counsel, Title IX Coordinator, Provost, University Rights and Responsibilities, ASU Police Department, Counseling, Student Advocacy and Assistance, Athletics, Academic Partners, and community partners to aid in a student's personal development through the conduct process.
Serves as a liaison to ASU Housing staff in the administration of conduct cases from campus residential facilities, including providing guidance and support in all aspects of the ASU conduct system.
Provides ongoing trainings, consultations, and policy interpretations to students, faculty, staff and community members in relation to the ABOR Student Code of Conduct and the conduct process.
Supervises undergraduate and graduate student staff, as applicable.
Performs other duties or projects, as assigned.
Desired Qualifications:
Evidence of a Master's degree in Higher Education, Counseling, Justice Studies, Social Work, Law Enforcement or a related field.
Experience with student housing and handling behavioral issues within a residential setting.
Experience with clubs and organizations, including fraternities/sororities and athletics.
Experience organizing, coordinating, and prioritizing a large workload within a fast-paced environment.
Experience serving a diverse student population with cultural competence and sensitivity.
Demonstrated knowledge of social media and public record searches/requests.
Evidence of effective communication skills
Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
Experience with PeopleSoft and Maxient, or similar systems
Demonstrated knowledge of investigative techniques, student development and holistic approaches to conflict resolution.
Demonstrated knowledge of Title IX, VAWA, FERPA, Clery, and other applicable laws and regulations.
Experience conducting high-level investigations including alleged sexual harassment, sexual assault, or sexual violence.
Evidence of training through ATIXA, ASCA, or comparable professional organizations.
Evidence of training in FETI or other trauma informed training
Working Environment:
Sit or stand for prolonged periods of time
Work collaboratively across various departments within the University as well as with diverse
populations and groups
Use computers effectively – including inputting, reviewing and retrieving information, extended
periods of viewing screen and using mouse and keyboard
Use critical thinking to make decisions and/or analyze data
Communicate effectively both orally and in writing
Walk throughout campus for meetings or events, regardless of the weather
Work collaboratively to achieve objectives
Climb stairs in locations with no elevator, such as with the mezzanine level of the MU, or Irish Hall
Ability to lift 35 lbs.
