Community Life Director
This is a full time position that provides a salary commensurate with experience and outstanding benefits in a truth and grace filled work environment.
The Grove Church has one mission: to help people live like Jesus. We are seeking a Community Life Director to help us carry out our mission with our congregation.
The Community Life Director will play a pivotal role in cultivating a welcoming environment for new guests, ensuring their smooth integration into the life and mission of The Grove Church. This role will manage the guest experience from the first visit through the next steps pathway into active membership, focusing on fostering meaningful connections and a sense of belonging.
Reports To: Operations Director
FLSA Status: Exempt
Campus: The Grove
Work Hours:
Full-time, including Sundays, Christmas, and Easter, and occasional evenings, as needed for events and meetings.
Job Responsibilities and Duties: Essential duties include the items listed below, plus other duties as required or assigned.
- Guest Experience Management
- Oversee the entire guest experience, ensuring every new visitor feels seen, welcomed, and valued.
- Develop and refine systems to track and follow up with new guests, ensuring no one falls through the cracks.
- Train and empower volunteers to be the first point of contact for new guests, creating a culture of hospitality.
- Next Steps Pathway Oversight
- Design, implement, and manage a clear and effective pathway for guests to become active, engaged members.
- Organize and lead regular events such as newcomer gatherings, membership classes, and onboarding experiences.
- Collaborate with ministry leaders to connect individuals with small groups, serving opportunities, and discipleship resources.
- Regularly assess the effectiveness of engagement and integration efforts, making adjustments as needed.
- Utilize church management software to track guest and member engagement, ensuring timely follow-up and meaningful connections.
- Relationship Building
- Build genuine relationships with guests, members, and ministry leaders to foster a vibrant, engaged community.
- Regularly connect with members to identify ways to deepen their involvement and sense of belonging.
- Partner with staff to identify and address barriers to engagement within the congregation.
- Volunteer Team Leadership
- Recruit, train, and lead a team of volunteers to serve as greeters, connectors, and follow-up coordinators.
- Provide ongoing support, encouragement, and training to ensure volunteer success.
- Develop and update written serving policies, procedures, and trainings as the church evolves.
Qualifications:
- A deep and growing relationship with Jesus Christ and alignment with The Grove Church’s mission and values.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with a passion for building relationships and fostering community.
- Proven experience in guest engagement, volunteer management, or related fields (church or non-profit experience preferred).
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with church management software and data tracking is a plus.
- A self-starter with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
