The Cost Estimating Engineer III position is an exciting opportunity to join PM Group’s quickly growing Philadelphia area team out of Conshohocken, PA. Together we are sharing knowledge, learning, growing, and continuing to be an integral part of supporting PM Group’s ongoing expansion in the US. Our office is executing cutting-edge projects for Pharmaceutical, Biologics and Cell & Gene Therapy, manufacturing facilities – from feasibility through to qualification – for both local and international clients. Together with our clients and partners, we will deliver projects that improve the everyday lives of people across the globe.
We are looking for a professional who enjoys client interaction as well as the technical aspects of the position. This individual needs to have an understanding of the technical aspects of cost estimating. The ability to successfully handle multiple real-time complex cost estimating tasks as well as maintain a strong work ethic and drive to deliver for clients as a collaborative colleague are a must for this role. The Cost Estimating Engineer will be mentored by Project Controls leadership and will assist with the development of different classifications of cost estimates. They will also be involved with the mentoring and development to less experienced Cost Estimating team members. Expect project work to include all levels of design: feasibility studies, conceptual & schematic design, construction documentation, and construction administration. Project sizes will vary and will consist primarily of life science industry projects doing both existing building improvements and new construction.

:- Continue to build and maintain a detailed and up-to-date cost data library
- Review drawings, equipment lists, and project plans to identify cost elements
- Develop accurate and comprehensive cost estimates covering materials, labor, equipment, and other project expenses
- Partner with project managers and engineers to collect and validate key project information
- Perform cost-benefit analyses to support effective budget allocation and decision-making
- Prepare clear, detailed reports and presentations on cost estimates for stakeholders
- Update and refine cost estimates as project scope or conditions evolve
- Conduct ongoing market research to track trends in material and labor pricing
- Support the preparation of project bids and proposals
- Maintain organized documentation of all cost estimation data and activities
- Monitor project spending to ensure alignment with approved budgets
- Participate in special projects and other duties as needed
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, engineering, construction management, or a related field; equivalent experience in estimating may be considered
- Minimum of 5+ years of experience in cost estimating, with a strong preference for MEP cost estimating experience in the Life Sciences sector
- Proficiency in cost estimation software and tools, as well as Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Power BI, etc.
- Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving abilities with exceptional attention to detail
- Solid understanding of financial and accounting principles related to project costs and project management principles
- In depth knowledge of research and data analysis methods and estimation formulas
- Proven ability to interpret and analyze complex project data
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills
- Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines
- Collaborative team player with strong interpersonal communication skills
- Professional certification from AACE, PMI, or a similar organization preferred
- Travel as required based on project needs
