Human Capital is a venture firm dedicated to empowering builders of technology. We invest in and build teams alongside founders driven to create meaningful, long-term impact, including Brex, Commure, and Snowflake. With more than $2B in capital committed, our stage-agnostic portfolio includes many companies we invested in before they became unicorns.

The Role

We are seeking an Engineer to serve as the technical architect of our firm's talent technology and data infrastructure. This is a unique and high-impact role for a builder who can apply a systems-thinking, data-driven, and automation-first mindset to the complex challenges of modern recruiting.

You will partner closely with our internal talent team and our portfolio companies to build and optimize talent tech stacks from the ground up. This role is essential for transforming our talent operations from a support function into a strategic, scalable engine that establishes a repeatable, best-in-class playbook for our partners.

Your Responsibilities

  • System Architecture & Integration: Design and implement our talent tech stack, ensuring seamless, bidirectional data flow between all systems, including our ATS, CRM, sourcing tools, and third-party APIs.

  • Data Engineering & Management: Build and maintain automated data pipelines for consolidation, enrichment, and cleansing of candidate information. Develop custom scripts or integrations to enrich profiles and ensure a high level of data accuracy, integrity, and compliance.

  • CRM Optimization & Data Rediscovery: Take ownership of our CRM as a strategic asset. Engineer robust search functionality and build data models that enable recruiters to surface, re-engage, and track passive candidates, turning our existing talent pool into a primary sourcing channel.

  • Workflow Automation: Identify operational bottlenecks and manual processes within the talent acquisition lifecycle. Develop automated solutions to streamline workflows, such as candidate outreach, interview scheduling, and data entry, freeing up our talent team for high-value human interaction.

  • Strategic Reporting: Partner with talent leadership to define key metrics. Build and maintain custom dashboards and reports that provide actionable insights into talent funnel performance, sourcing channel effectiveness, and pipeline health.

  • Research & Problem-Solving: Act as a thought partner to our talent leaders, researching emerging technologies and proactively solving complex, talent-related issues to drive toward solutions that can be leveraged across our portfolio companies.

Your Past

We expect you to have done some of these things, but it’s not required that you’ve done all of them.

  • You have at least 4+ years of experience in a role with a focus on business systems, data engineering, data analytics, or Go-to-Market operations.

  • You have hands-on experience working through complex data querying and analysis.

  • You’ve used a scripting language, such as Python, to build automations and integrations. You thrive when applying your skillset to solve unique problems.

  • You have direct experience managing and optimizing a CRM.

  • You have prior experience in a fast-paced environment, such as a startup, venture firm, or consulting.

  • You are comfortable translating business needs into technical requirements.

Your Mindset

  • You're an Architect: You are passionate about designing elegant and efficient systems. You love solving complex problems by building the technical foundation from the ground up.

  • You're Methodical: You take pride in being able to systematically think through all the implications of a decision and can anticipate how each choice affects all stakeholders.

  • You're an Optimizer: You are obsessed with finding ways to make processes faster, smarter, and more reliable. You love the idea of turning a fragmented workflow into a seamless machine.

  • You have an Ownership Mentality: You take initiative on projects with a high degree of responsibility and complexity, with no question that you will see them through to completion.

  • You love organizing: You enjoy helping others get their “house” in order, whether it's through a technical solution or a documented process.

What We’ll Offer

Our comprehensive compensation package is designed to recognize the impact you have on our path to achieving our mission. For this role, the estimated base salary range is between 120,000-240,000 with additional compensation for on-target performance. The actual base salary will vary based on factors including market and individual qualifications objectively assessed during the interview process.
