RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for providing support through tutoring and guidance to trainees
- Strong understanding of energy efficiency building design, materials, and systems. Including strong communication and customer service skills.
- Provide one-on-one and/or small-group tutoring to trainees, focusing on best practices approaches
- Collaborate with training institution on curriculum taught to train and build foundational knowledge of trainees on materials and methods that reflect the latest building science and program standards
- Help instruct trainees on the proper use of diagnostic tools such as blower doors, infrared cameras, and combustion analyzers to identify energy loss and assess building performance.
- Enforce and model all safety policies and procedures, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and working in challenging environments like attics and crawlspaces.
- Support to evaluate and document trainees progress, providing constructive feedback and reporting on areas that require further development. Where required administer hands-on assessments to ensure technical competency.
QUALIFICATIONS
- A high school diploma, degree in related field and prior experience or education in areas like Building performance, building science, or construction is required.
- A strong foundational understanding of energy efficiency concepts, building performance, energy efficient building design, and systems (i.e. insulation, lighting, HVAC, etc.)
- Able to clearly explain the benefits of energy improvements and effectively communicate with students, instructors and other key parties.
- Strong organizational skills for managing tasks, data, trainees progress, etc.
- Passed tutoring experience in energy efficiency is a plus.
- Strong interpersonal skills to motivate and guide trainees with diverse backgrounds and learning styles.
- A proactive, results-oriented attitude with a high degree of empathy and discretion.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel and PowerPoint, etc.)
- Advanced-level professional competency in written and spoken English language is required.
- Excellent written, verbal communication and presentation skill
- Authorization to work in the United States for any employer is mandatory
- Certification Building Analyst, Quality Control Inspector, Energy Manager and/or Energy Auditor required
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to use a computer for prolonged periods.
- Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
- Ability to stand, walk, or sit for long periods of time.
- Ability to climb five flights of stairs, if required to conduct home visits and/or fieldwork.
- Ability to bend and retrieve objects and/or documents.
- Ability to travel in the boroughs of New York City and its adjacent counties via public transportation.
- Ability to travel for a minimum of 1 mile within a reasonable amount of time and in all types of weather, including inclement weather, if required to conduct home visits and/or field work.
