Who is a Software Engineer at SMT?

As a Software Engineer, your game plan will include researching, designing, developing, testing, and maintaining software applications that meet our sports technology systems and business objectives. You will team up with teammates from our Engineering, R&D and Quality Assurance teams to deliver gold medal solutions in a fast-paced environment.  

This is a remote position out of our Jacksonville, FL division. On-site training in Jacksonville, FL is required for this position.

What is Your Daily Impact at SMT?

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable software applications. 
• Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code. 
• Troubleshoot, debug, and upgrade existing software. 
• Ensure software meets performance, quality, and security standards. 
• Contribute to architectural decisions and technical discussions. 
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define software requirements and system architecture.
• Seek out and solve challenging problems.
• Contribute to all aspects of the software development life cycle.
• Work closely with others in both collaborative development and support roles.
• Work on building robust, intuitive, scalable solutions and show ability to be self-directed.

What Do You Bring to SMT?

Here are some of the key skills we are looking for in our next teammate:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or related field. 
• 3+ years of experience in hands on software development. 
• Proficiency in one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, Java, C++, JavaScript).
• Familiarity with sports, sports broadcasting, or broadcasting in general is a plus.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. 
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

We would love for you to bring these skills as well: 

• Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud). 
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices. 
• Knowledge of databases (MySQL or MongoDB) 
• Experience with front-end frameworks (e.g., React, Angular) or mobile development.
• Experience with version control systems.
• Experience creating user-facing software.
• Experience building Windows applications with Visual Studio preferred.
• Experience with Qt or similar application development frameworks preferred
