Audience Engagement Specialist for Teknovation bei PYA

PYA is seeking a highly motivated, growth-minded individual to fill the role of Multimedia Content Specialist/ Audience Engagement Specialist for Teknovation. The Specialist will support the production, distribution, and expansion of PYA’s publication, focusing on entrepreneurship, innovation, technology, and small businesses in East Tennessee.

This person will work in a partnership with Teknovation’s editor and the PYA marketing and business development teams to identify and cover community business stories. They will also assist with the production of a newsletter that is issued three times/week and growth analytics tracking.

 This person also must have an interest in small business, technology, innovation, and scientific concepts.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Enterprise and produce multimedia news content that propels the mission of Teknovation forward through various media: video, photo, articles, and social media. Producing one to three unique feature stories each week (sample).
• Create a strong network of relationships with key community builders, business leaders, elected officials, and entrepreneurs across East Tennessee in Knoxville, Oak Ridge, Johnson City, Chattanooga, Nashville, and Cookeville.
• Attend various community events as a representative of PYA and reporter for Teknovation.
• Keep track of community business events relevant to the Teknovation audience and update the website calendar accordingly.
• Design and send the 3x/week Teknovation newsletter to be compelling, informative, and aligned with PYA’s mission for the publication. 
• Prepare regular analytics reports about newsletter performance, social media engagement, and online readership to inform decision-making. Work with PYA’s Marketing team and Teknovation’s editor to track and grow the Teknovation audience.
• Competency to assist with social media posting and content generation, when needed.
• If comfortable, be willing to help be a face for the brand on social platforms.
• Assist in video editing for feature stories and branded partnerships.
• Work hand-in-hand with Teknovation’s Editor, PYA CMO, and Marketing team to ensure quality standards are met and work products exceed expectations.

QUALIFICATIONS

• At least 3 years of work experience in journalism, public relations, marketing, or business development required. Preference for journalists who have a body of work to share.
• Proficiency with publishing platforms such as WordPress, Mailchimp, Hootsuite, and content management systems (Asana) is a big plus.
• Knowledge of SEO best practices.
• Experience in generating analytics reports.
• Exceptional time management with a proven track record of meeting tight deadlines with attention to detail.
• Existing community relationships and connections are a big plus.
• Proficiency in Adobe Cloud software (Photoshop, Premiere, Audition)
• Hard worker. Belief in the product offering. Eagerness to help it bloom.
