Equinox VGM is currently inviting applications for a Process Plant Mechanical Planner to join our growing team as the company transitions from mine construction to mine operations.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Planning and Reliability Superintendent, the Process Plant Mechanical Planner is directly responsible for the Process Plant mechanical maintenance asset strategy planning and scheduling and coordination of all Preventive Mechanical Maintenance and repair activities. These duties must be performed to ensure safe and productive equipment availability.  Verify work instructions and ensure work practices contain all information to complete tasks safely and efficiently.  Duties also include implementation and management of maintenance plans and task list within the ERP system.  Develop, revise, and assist implementation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for the Process Plant Maintenance Department.  Provide support and analysis of maintenance strategy to support lowest cost per ton at the desired availability, which supports the overall goal of lowest total cost of ownership and overall equipment effectiveness. 

 

This position is located at the Mine site, working on a 14 days in/14 days out rotation.

Accountabilities/Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrates leadership in Health, Safety, and Environment through personal behaviors and conversations; reports all Health, Safety, and Environment incidents; and participates in Health, Safety, and Environment initiatives, reviews, and investigations.
  • Establish and promote a respectful and healthy work environment at all times.
  • Establish and refine Process Plant mechanical maintenance strategies which will deliver the desired equipment performance required – e.g. equipment availability targets. 
  • Develop, optimize, and utilize standard job plans (resources, parts, tooling, task lists) for routine Process Plant mechanical maintenance activities, based on site experience and input, for the Equipment. 
  • Ensure that all routine Process Plant mechanical maintenance activities are uploaded and maintained in the CMMS system and the budgeting tool. 
  • Create and maintain work orders and requisitions (materials and services) in ERP system. 
  • Confirm and secure needed parts and external labour prior to releasing work orders. 
  • Liaise with suppliers to expedite external parts and contractor labour suppliers, where necessary. 
  • Schedule Process Plant mechanical maintenance and repair related activities into the preventative mechanical maintenance schedule. 
  • Schedule all routine Process Plant mechanical maintenance activities (work orders) in consultation with the Process Plant Operations and Process Plant Maintenance teams, including short-term changes to the Process Plant maintenance schedules.
  • Provide quality work packs to the Process Plant Maintenance Supervisors for all routine maintenance activities to ensure quality and efficient work execution.
  • Seek detailed work completion information from the Process Plant Maintenance Supervisors and resolve any issues as necessary. 
  • Plan and schedule all shut down activities.   
  • Report on standard maintenance measures that are directly related to the Process Equipment (i.e. availability, repair duration etc.) 
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned. 

Education and Experience Required:

  • A post-secondary degree in Mechanical Engineering, Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology, or relevant discipline.   
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in Maintenance Supervision, Maintenance Planning, or a closely related discipline in a heavy industrial or mining environment.
  • Experience working in a remote industrial environment would be considered an asset.

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental requirements at remote sites. 
  • Relevant qualifications in appropriate area of expertise. 
  • Knowledge of the OHS, mining, and construction regulations. 
  • Effective time management skills and able to manage multiple priorities. 
  • Good computer skills with competence using Microsoft Office products. 
  • Ability to influence and inspire others and manage cross-functional relationships. 
  • Strong knowledge and experience in Operations and Maintenance systems, processes, and facilities. 
  • Experience with ERP systems. 
  • Excellent Organizational Skills. 
  • Experience in the maintenance and repair of mechanical or electrical equipment.  
  • Experience in dealing with contract services and manufacturer representatives. 
  • A valid driver’s license and driver’s abstract required.
