Summary
The Albuquerque Academy Advancement Office is seeking a motivated, creative, and highly organized individual for the position of Alumni and Community Engagement Officer. This is a full-time, year-round position under the direct supervision of the Associate Director of Advancement. The program officer is a collaborative member of the Advancement team who organizes, and coordinates programming and services designed to foster and strengthen the relationship between the Academy and its alumni and other constituent groups, including parents and students. Essential Functions
Lead the Alumni Engagement Program
- Work with the Alumni Council and its volunteer groups to lead a robust and meaningful annual alumni weekend, along with its five-year reunion events.
- Promote and foster robust alumni relations through creative communications (e.g., online newsletters, school publications, social media posts, etc.) and personal contact with constituent groups.
- Serve as the lead liaison to the Alumni Council committees and other alumni groups.
- Serve as a resource to the alumni body and others regarding alumni and Academy programs and activities.
- Coordinate and execute alumni recognition programs
Design and Manage Other Programs to Support our Culture of Philanthropy Across Constituencies
- Develop programs to cultivate a philanthropic mindset in students grades 6-12, preparing them for active engagement as future alumni.
- With the Senior Gifts Officer, serve as an advancement liaison to the parent association (AAPA), the Multicultural Parent Councils (MPCs), and other parent-led groups to promote and support fundraising campaigns.
- Collaborate with the advancement team and other academic and non-academic school departments to plan and potentially lead the execution of large-scale events like GrandDays (annual event for Academy grandparents/friends).
- Formulate and execute solicitation and communication strategies targeted toward specific market segments using a variety of media.
- Develop tools to collect information related to constituent-specific engagement and use resultant data to refine programming.
General Department and School Duties
- With advancement team members, contribute to a variety of reports, including annual impact reports and reports to the board of trustees.
- Work with the associate director and other team members to ensure the coordination and development of the total advancement program.
- Plan, coordinate, and schedule all logistical details and make necessary arrangements for programs, events, and services in assigned areas of responsibility.
- Learn to use all job-related software programs and databases.
- Participate actively in professional development, training, professional organizations, and other learning opportunities assigned by supervisor.
- Support the School and its mission, always maintaining a high degree of professionalism.
- Foster and maintain a culture of mutual respect, equitable practice, and joy.
- Demonstrate cultural competence and communicate and collaborate effectively across differences.
Other Responsibilities
- Attend employee meetings as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications
Education
- A Bachelor’s degree is required.
- An Albuquerque Academy alumnus/a is preferred.
Experience
- Previous experience in an educational setting with experience in marketing, sales, and/or communication sciences is preferred.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Knowledge of development and advancement concepts, methods, and procedures related to a school environment.
- Ability to make decisions independently and manage multiple tasks with competing deadlines.
- Willingness and excitement for working with donors to give philanthropically to Albuquerque Academy.
- Ability to communicate and work effectively with a broad range of constituencies, including the team, faculty, staff, administration, trustees, parents, students, and alumni.
- Organization skills and attention to detail.
- Skills in writing, proofreading, and editing.
- Knowledge of PC, Mac, and Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Knowledge of database management, Adobe, Publisher, or other creative design applications is preferred.
- Ability to learn and implement new technologies quickly and as required.
- Knowledge of and involvement in the Albuquerque Academy community or a willingness to develop an in-depth understanding.
Special Requirements
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
Working Environment
- Majority of work is performed in an indoor office setting in the campus Library.
- Work hours are generally from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.
- Weekend and evening hours are periodically required for advancement and other school events.
Physical Demands
- Prolonged sitting and computer use
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds with or without assistance.
