Recognition is crucial to the value proposition of our DP and CP programmes, this is a significant factor in driving school growth and retention and also student growth. This role has overall responsibility for designing and executing a comprehensive strategy to improve the university and governmental recognition of the IBDP, IBCP and where appropriate MYP. The role actively monitors both the external and internal education landscape in these markets to ensure that the strategy is agile to meet the current needs of our students.

This role will establish and maintain highly productive relationships with key stakeholders at a senior level in universities and governments involved in the transition from high school to university. Using tact, diplomacy, and evidence, support these key external stakeholders, who are time poor, to drive changes their policies to be fair and equitable towards IB students.

Recognition of IB credentials for proof of graduation, admissions eligibility, credit-bearing courses, language proficiency, advanced standing, scholarships, and other significant benefits are key to the expansion of IB offerings in order to meet our stated goal to “Change our impact on the world by growing the number of young people that benefit from an IB education and reaching more young people to give access to some of the experience of an IB education, and by engaging in and leading broader global education conversation to shape the future of learning around the world.”

Responsibilities

Executes a strategic vision to improve the university and governmental recognition of the IBDP, IBCP, and MYP for around 15 countries in Canada, Europe and Australasia.

Provide high quality leadership of the ROW recognition team; defining targets, motivating staff and tracking progress throughout the year against key goals and metrics.

Leads on developing clear prioritisation techniques to deliver a pipeline of regular wins, as well as the slower more strategic ones.

Establishes and maintain highly productive relationships with senior external stakeholders involved in the transition from secondary to higher education.

Improves the number and quality of university policies that support IB programs and the work of IB students with particular focus on the universities that receive a high volume of IB transcripts and/or are high interest destinations for IB students.

Exerts influence with senior governmental and university admissions, enrolment and registry leadership to negotiate improved recognition policies that support IB student access to higher education.

Acts as thought leader and represent the IB at state, national and international conferences proposing and developing and delivering sessions.

Develops the strategy for the programmatic elements of the biennial online IB University Admissions Conference.

Executes on the strategy for the continuous improvement and expansion of the Recognition Database.

Develops and deliver, presentations, PD and training for universities and for the both the internal and external stakeholder community in regard to university recognition.

Supports the stakeholder community in the development of events that provide opportunities for universities to meet with IB educators and students.

Supports the work of Associations of IB World Schools (AIBWS) on university recognition

Engages proactively with the Canadian, European and Asia Pacific University Advisory Groups.

Oversees the continued development of the University and Careers Counsellors Advisory Group.

Collaborates closely with the AEM, AP and IA Regional Development Teams.

Collaborates with the IB Research Team to determine and define projects which provide evidence to support our recognition efforts.

Contracts with vendors and consultants in order to deliver the recognition efforts.

Effectively defines and manage the non-pay budget assigned to this portfolio and complete.

Deputises for the Head of department at internal and external meetings.

Qualifications

Bachelors degree.

Minimum 5+ years’ experience of higher education industry, in an senior role within admissions or recruitment office (or similar recognition experience).

Active involvement and knowledge regarding educational philosophies, higher education, university admissions, curriculum development, research, policy, and trends.

Demonstrated abilities of persuasion, resilience and negotiation.

Demonstrated skills as a leader and collaborator as part of a team and also working independently.

Culturally aware and respectful, having a global perspective, and identifying opportunities for global working – including with matrix/remote or hybrid staff.

Strong IT skills and the ability to work effectively with data.

Excellent presentation skills and command of written business English.

Spanish and/or French proficiency (ability to conduct business meetings and draft formal letters) highly desirable, but not required.

Experience of the higher education markets within the countries outlined preferred, but not required.

Advanced degree desirable, but not required.

Knowledge and understanding of IB, its mission and programmes desirable, but not required.

Experience with Salesforce or other CRM software desirable, but not required.
