Summary:

The Manufacturing Associate II – supports experimental and early-phase production activities within a research and development setting. This role involves executing complex builds, supporting prototype development, and collaborating with engineering and scientific teams to translate concepts into functional products. The ideal candidate thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and demonstrates precision, adaptability, and strong comprehension of technical documentation. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform hands-on assembly and fabrication of prototypes, engineering builds, and clinical builds that often deviate from standard manufacturing processes.
  • Interpret and execute complex, non-standard work instructions, technical drawings, and build documentation with high accuracy.
  • Collaborate with R&D engineers and operations support teams to support product development, process refinement, and design iterations.
  • Document build activities, deviations, and observations clearly to support traceability and feedback loops.
  • Operate lab-scale and pilot production equipment safely and effectively. Conduct in-process inspections and functional tests to validate prototype performance.
  • Support root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives for new processes and materials.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant workspace aligned with safety and quality standards.
  • Perform additional tasks assigned by the supervisor to support evolving R&D priorities.

Travel Required:

  • Up to 25%

Functional Description:

Sets up and operates various automatic or semi-automatic machines, including robotic assembly equipment used in the production of the company's product. Responsible for the overall operation of potentially large scale manufacturing machinery, including actions such as feeding materials for processing, adjusting settings, performing minor repairs, and pulling finished products from the line. Works from process sheets or written/verbal instructions given by the supervisor to perform production tasks. Checks and inspects operation results against predetermined tolerances.

Functional/Business Knowledge:

  • Has obtained a broad understanding and knowledge of the job to perform a wide range of tasks.
  • Applies job skills and company policies and procedures to complete a variety of tasks.

Scope:

  • Job requires work performance in accordance with standard practice, which enables the employee to proceed with reference to only questionable cases to the supervisor.
  • Assignments are moderately complex, where the ability to recognize deviation from accepted practice is required.
  • Information exchanged may require diplomacy and tact.

Judgement:

  • Typically receives instruction on daily work and general instructions on newly introduced assignments.
  • Nature of decisions demands consistent accuracy as errors may cause severe delay, waste of materials, or loss of time due to rework or checking revised output.

Experience and Education Requirements:

  • Typically requires a minimum of 2-4 years of related experience and High School diploma/certificate or equivalent.
