QSLWM is looking for candidates with 2-3 years of experience in handling complex litigation cases, particularly those who have demonstrated strong skills in case file management, legal writing and drafting key documents – pleadings, discovery (requests and responses), exhibit preparation, and pre-trial materials.  


About the Role:

The Litigation Paralegal position is crucial in supporting attorneys in the preparation and management of cases related to creditors' rights. The paralegal will play a key role in supporting attorneys in preparation for mediations, depositions, and hearings. Responsibilities include organizing and reviewing case files, summarizing key documents and discovery materials, preparing exhibits, and ensuring all necessary documentation is complete and accessible. Paralegals may also assist in drafting outlines or briefing materials to support attorneys during proceedings, helping ensure a smooth and effective presentation. Ultimately, this position aims to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the fast-paced, high-volume litigation team.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree in Paralegal Studies or a related field.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in a legal environment, preferably in a litigation role.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • Paralegal certificate
  • Experience with case management software and legal research tools.
  • Working knowledge of Tabs and iManage.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Meet with attorneys and other professionals to discuss assigned cases or projects.
  • Draft legal documents including routine pleadings and motions, affidavits, and written discovery; files motions and pleadings according to judicial procedures.
  • Research and analyze statutes, regulations, legal articles, judicial decisions, and other legal sources; provides written analysis to attorneys.
  • Prepare, organize, store, and retrieve case files, which may include evidence, exhibits, depositions, pleadings, exhibits, and other items.
  • Assist attorneys with trial preparation, which may include attending trials and hearings.
  • Develop and maintain records regarding billable hours spent on specific cases.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned. 

 

Skills:

  • Strong research and analytical abilities, which are essential for gathering and interpreting legal information. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Proficiency in computer systems and legal software applications.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are necessary for drafting documents and interacting with clients and witnesses. 
  • Attention to detail is critical in organizing case files and ensuring accuracy in legal documents. 
  • Familiarity with legal terminology and procedures will enhance the paralegal's ability to support attorneys effectively. 
  • Preferred skills, such as proficiency in case management software, will streamline daily tasks and improve overall productivity.

 

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
