About the role

We are looking for a motivated Data Management Consultant to join us on a 3–6 month contract (Outside IR35). This role is ideal for a technically strong, client-facing data professional with hands-on experience in Alation and Power BI, who thrives in solving complex data challenges and delivering tangible business impact.

You’ll be responsible for supporting Alation configuration, dashboard development, and embedding data management practices into wider business processes.

Occasional on-site visits may be required.

What you’ll do

• Take ownership of Alation configuration: define and implement the metamodel in collaboration with internal architecture teams and drive development work.
• Design and deliver Power BI dashboards, translating designs into production-ready, scalable solutions.
• Work with cross-functional teams to refine and embed data management and governance processes into business procedures.
• Partner with internal stakeholders to ensure alignment, adoption, and measurable value delivery.
• Support project planning, scope definition, issue tracking, and risk management to ensure smooth delivery.
• Communicate effectively with both technical and business audiences, including analysts, managers, and executives.
• Continuously learn and share knowledge on tools, techniques, and best practices within the team.

What you’ll need

• Proven hands-on experience with Alation configuration (metamodel design, administration, and development).
• Strong Power BI skills (dashboarding, data modelling, DAX).
• Solid understanding of data governance, data management frameworks, and process alignment.
• Excellent communication skills with confidence engaging both business and technical stakeholders.
• Analytical mindset and practical approach to delivering high-quality outcomes.
• Experience in consulting or exposure to structured business processes is advantageous.
• Flexibility to attend on-site visits when required.
