The Clothing Supervisor provides an environment where patrons may have a positive and uplifting experience each time they come to the temple. This role oversees and participates in the laundering, mending, and generally care for the clothing and linens used in the temple according to First Presidency standards. This role is a supervisory role that provides guidance and direction to other employees, volunteers, and service missionaries working in the temple.

Responsibilities

  • Keeps clothing and linens clean and in good condition, ensuring they meet the temple's standards
  • Provides prompt and courteous service to patrons and church workers entering the temple laundry
  • Supervises, leads, and trains employees and volunteers in laundry operations
  • Prepares schedules for employees and volunteers, coordinating shifts to maintain smooth workflow and coverage
  • Manages and ensures the upkeep of the temple clothing inventory
  • Monitors and maintains inventory of needed chemicals and works with outside vendors to ensure timely supply and compliance with safety standards
  • Manages resources to optimize operations and cost-efficiency, ensuring adherence to the established budget
  • Operates commercial laundry equipment; prepares clothing and linens for use within the temple; may include sorting, washing, drying, hanging, pressing, folding, and assembling items needed by patrons, workers, and others who enter the temple
  • Uses computer resources to access training and communication tools
  • Implements safety policies and procedures for the laundry
  • Keeps the laundry area clean, well-organized, and free of safety hazards
  • Performs other tasks and attends coordination meetings as assigned by the temple recorder

Qualifications

Required

  • 3 years of any combination of related experience or progress towards or completion of a relevant university (post-secondary) degree or an industry-recognized certification.
  • Ability to work in a team with a diverse group of volunteers and staff and independently in an industrial laundry environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to multitask effectively and adapt to changes in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Warm and welcoming customer service skills.
  • Availability to work a flexible schedule, including on Saturdays and holidays, with flexible hours in the morning, afternoon, and evening.
  • Be able to lift 30lbs. (23 kg), stand for long periods, bend, kneel, stoop, pull, push, and perform physically demanding tasks in a fast-paced and meticulous work environment.

 

Preferred

  • 3 years of relevant experience (commercial laundry, customer service etc.)
  • Supervisory or leadership experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Outlook and Teams.
