GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION
The Lead Teacher plays a vital role in shaping the lives of young learners. They go beyond providing high-quality education to ensure the well-being and developmental growth of each child. Providing high-quality education and care that fosters the well-being and growth of children in Infant, Toddler, Transition, and Kinder Ready classrooms. This includes promoting cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development. Collaborating with staff and families to create a positive and supportive learning environment. This includes fostering open communication and working collaboratively to achieve program goals. Maintaining adherence to all relevant regulations and standards, including DFPS Minimum Standards, CCS/TRS Rising Star requirements, CACFP, SA Metro Health regulations, and NAEYC criteria. Implementing engaging daily lessons utilizing Teaching Strategies Gold and schedules that spark curiosity, creativity, and a love for learning. Ensuring the safety and well-being of children through attentive and responsible supervision. Fostering a classroom environment that promotes learning, creativity, and individual and group growth.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
This position requires face to face interactions with staff, board, vendors, and the general public on a daily basis to accomplish all essential functions of the position.
- ENSURING CHILD SAFETY & GROWTH: Provide active and adaptive supervision to guarantee the safety and well-being of all children. Design and implement engaging monthly and weekly lesson plans tailored to individual developmental goals, utilizing Teaching Strategies Gold (TSG). Create a warm, nurturing, and safe environment conducive to learning and exploration. Maintain a clean, orderly, and appealing classroom space. Conduct daily indoor and outdoor activities aligned with the curriculum (TSG). Engage children actively in scheduled routines and activities. Track and document individual development through assessments and progress portfolios. Input bi-annual data to monitor program goals and child progress. Collaborate with all Brighton Program specialists to maximize each child's development and education.
- FOSTERING POSITIVE RELATIONSHIPS: o Engage constructively with children, parents, and staff through face-to-face interactions. Offer exceptional customer service and maintain positive, professional communication with parents. Collaborate effectively with other staff members to build a supportive team environment. Ensure confidentiality of sensitive information. Guide, train, and utilize support staff and volunteers to ensure compliance with all regulations and policies. Collaborate proactively with other lead teachers, support staff, and supervisors to foster communication, planning, and understanding. Receptively receive and implement feedback from management and colleagues. Ensure interactions with children and parents align with program standards and effectively communicate as needed.
- MAINTAINING ACCURATE DOCUMENTATION: Manage all required reporting documents for the class and individual children, including daily reports, assessments, attendance, meal counts, and cleaning checklists. Complete assessments and developmental progress reports throughout the year. Conduct two annual Family/Teacher Conferences per child in their primary care group. Initiate and hold parent conferences when necessary.
- PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT & COMPLIANCE: Attend workshops, conferences, and training to maintain required in-service hours and complete annual professional development plans. Select professional development opportunities relevant to the age group and development of children in your assigned group. Attend scheduled staff meetings, supervisory meetings, team planning meetings, and curriculum meetings.
- ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Perform additional duties as assigned, including maintaining quality, following safety procedures, and meeting deadlines
OTHER FUNCTIONS
- Compliance and Development: Remain current on program guidelines, regulations, and best practices by attending workshops, conferences, and in-service training as required by the State of Texas and Brighton Center. This includes fulfilling annual in-service training hours and completing the Individual Professional Development Plan (TRS).
- Targeted Learning: Choose professional development opportunities that focus on the specific age group and developmental needs of children in your assigned primary care group. Gain new insights, knowledge, and strategies to enhance their learning and well-being.
- Collaboration and Communication: Attend all scheduled staff meetings, supervisory meetings, team planning sessions, and curriculum meetings led by the Program Director. Actively participate in discussions and contribute your expertise.
- Quality Assurance: Continuously strive to maintain overall program quality by following established procedures, best practices, and safety protocols.
- Meeting Deadlines: Ensure timely completion of tasks and assignments related to compliance, health, safety, and achieving program goals.
- Flexibility and Adaptability: Be willing to perform additional duties as assigned to support the program and the well-being of children
QUALIFICATIONS

- Two years of experience working directly with individuals with special needs, developmental delays, and/or vulnerable populations who have chronic or complex conditions.
- Education requirements: A bachelor’s degree in education or a related field with two years of experience in a licensed childcare center, accredited early childhood education program, or experience working with children ages 0-5. OR an Associate of Applied Science in Child Development with six years of experience in a similar setting. OR a minimum of ten years of experience working with children ages 0-5 in a licensed childcare center, accredited early childhood education program, or similar setting

| Curriculum/ Lesson Plan Implementation | Measures the consistency curriculum and lesson plans and overall classroom environment for their classrooms. Best Practice Observations are conducted by Preschool Director/Assistant Director using a standardized tool that evaluates the use of best practices.
