Overview
Thunes is a global cross-border payments network that enables businesses and consumers to send and accept payments worldwide. We have built a proprietary global network, the "Smart Superhighway," to move money around the world. Our network connects directly to over 7 billion mobile wallets and bank accounts globally, along with 15 billion cards, via more than 320 different payment methods. This allows for real-time payments in over 130 countries and 80 currencies. We are seeking a dynamic and strategic Vice President of Sales to lead and grow our Americas sales organization. This is a unique opportunity to design and build a sales team from the ground up, and to shape the next-generation talent pipeline for Thunes in a market where we are making a significant investment. Thunes has recently raised $150 million in Series D funding. This funding, the largest in our history, will be used to fuel our US expansion. We have also obtained money transmitter licenses in all 50 US states, a key step that allows us to contract directly with US businesses for real-time international payments. Our goal is to leverage this momentum to establish a strong footprint in the US, serving fintechs, platforms, and financial institutions. This role is a combination of strategy, leadership, and operational execution, ideal for a proven commercial leader in payments who thrives in a fast-paced, innovative, and evolving scale-up environment.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Building
- Build and shape a world-class enterprise-level Business Development team in the Americas
- Hire, train, lead, and motivate a team to develop customer relationships and increase market share and sales revenue to hit pipeline targets.
- Build a world-class business development organization to create an inbound and outbound pipeline.
- Be a great coach and leader, capable of inspiring and teaching your team the art of sales and instilling confidence in them.
- Work closely with Sales Enablement to educate commercial teams on forward-thinking sales methodologies.
Strategic Sales Planning & Execution
- Own all plans and strategies for developing business and achieving Thunes’ Americas sales goals.
- Work with Marketing to build and manage top-of-funnel prospect building for major campaigns and events.
- Collaborate with Revenue Operations, Marketing, and Sales leadership on territory planning, lead sourcing, lead scoring, and lead distribution.
- Work with Revenue Operations to establish relevant KPIs, develop dashboards, and forecast performance.
- Prepare forecasts and KPI reporting for the CRO and upper management.
- Provide full visibility into the sales pipeline at every stage of development.
Relationship Management
- Build and foster enduring relationships with key customers. You will be responsible for selling into new and existing markets, as well as negotiating and landing complex deals.
- Manage key stakeholder relationships, evangelize our products, and close large deals with key customers.
- You will be responsible for maintaining and demonstrating a positive image of the brand, and maintaining client / prospect relationships of your own.
Qualifications
- Solid track record of experience in B2B Sales, Business Development, or Sales Operations.
- Experience in a leadership role gained within a Fintech / Payments sales function.
- Proven expertise as an outbound expert and will know what it takes to make outbound lead generation work.
- Experience optimizing strategic sales activity, including the use of CRM tools for reporting, forecasting, and data analytics.
- High execution power and a combination of strategic and operational skills.
