Position:                       VDC Project Engineer

Work location:              Sacramento, CA

Wage:                          $128,565 - $145,000 / per year*

Job Duties:

Perform engineering duties in planning, designing, and overseeing construction and maintenance of building structures and facilities, such as roads, railroads, airports, bridges, harbors, channels, dams, irrigation projects, pipelines, power plants, and water and sewage systems.

Coordinate with Project Team project requirements for VDC.  Lead modelling effort with EIG's team and coordinate with external VDC resources and ensure project needs are met.  Lead VDC meetings with project team weekly and attend all coordination meetings with project management firm. Collaborate with design team and hold model-based design coordination meeting for projects, using the merged model to solve design issues. Participate in model-based detailed coordination meeting with trade partners for project and review trade partner weekly deliverables and run clash detection. Support on-side construction team efforts in the implementation of VDC applications, processes, and deliverables. Collaborate with DPR and EIG teams or vendors to laser-scan existing structures to verify elevations and dimensions using computer-driven survey and modeling equipment. Develop 3D object models to illustrate contractor questions and possible solutions. Develop strategies for 3D quantity takeoff tools, results, and estimating practices. Produce dimensioned drawings for layout and pre-fabrication from the models. Prepare “Shop drawing” level 3D models such as concrete forms and wall frame detailing under direction of Superintendent for use by DPR and EIG crews or subcontractors. Prepare, monitor and update 4D simulations of Master and Phase Schedules.

Minimum Requirements: Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture or related field and three (3) years of experience in the job offered or in a civil/construction engineer-related occupation.

Special Requirements: Position requires at least two (2) years of experience in each of the following skills:

Utilize knowledge of Autodesk CAD to manage various 2D drawings. Utilize knowledge of Autodesk Navisworks to manage and coordinate various 3D models. Utilize knowledge of Autodesk BIM360 to manage Coordination of various 3D models. Utilize knowledge of Newforma Konekt to manage Coordination of various 3D models. Utilize knowledge of Autodesk Point Layout to manage and coordinate field layouts. Utilize knowledge of Adobe Photoshop to Edit, enhance and compile Project specific presentation documents.

Position requires at least one (1) year of experience in each of the following skills:

Utilize knowledge of Autodesk Revit to manage various 3D models. Utilize knowledge of Bluebeam Revu to manage various 2D drawings Markups. Utilize knowledge of MS Office to manage various construction Documents. Utilize knowledge of Evolve MEP to manage various 3D electrical field specific modeling.
