Job Description

As the Senior Engineer with the Retail Media Network Ad Engineering team, you will contribute to the development and technical strategy of the company's self-service ad platform. This role is responsible for collaborating closely with product, marketing, data science, and external partners to build and optimize a robust, scalable, and innovative ad platform. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in ad technology and programmatic advertising, with the ability to drive technical initiatives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. You will be a technical leader across multiple products or systems, recognized as an expert and thought leader in this area, as well as a mentor and teacher across squads with the ability to influence outside their direct teams.

This role is hybrid, which means you will work some days on site at a Best Buy location and some days virtually from home or another non-Best Buy location. The specific work arrangements vary by role and team. The recruiter or hiring manager will provide more details during the hiring process.

What you’ll do
  • You will participate in the creation and presentation of technical designs
  • You will lead in the delivery of complex solutions
  • Your depth of knowledge will aid in anticipating technical issues at the product level and will make architectural and design decisions to avoid them
  • You will lead and effectively triage complex issues across systems in many environments
  • You will demonstrate creativity to take initiative in solving complex problems
Basic qualifications
  • 3 years of relevant Enterprise Software Engineering experience at scale
  • 3 years of development experience with React, Next.js, TypeScript, JavaScript and similar technologies
  • 1 year of experience using Cloud technologies with AWS preferred or GCP
Preferred qualifications
  • 6 years of relevant experience with a bachelor’s degree OR equivalent relevant professional experience
  • 5 years of development experience with React, Next.js, TypeScript, JavaScript and similar technologies
  • 1 year of experience with monitoring and analysis tools such as Speed Curve, Splunk, Grafana, Sentry, and/or React Profiler
  • 1 year of experience integrating with backend web services, Figma, and implementing design
  • 1 year of experience with testing frameworks (e.g., Jest, React Testing Library, Cypress)
  • Ability to build and optimize web applications and platforms in a cloud environment with a solid understanding of front-end design
  • Understanding of frontend architectural patterns such as Micro-Frontends, Component-Driven Development, or Atomic Design
  • Ability to collaborate with product managers
  • Ability to triage and manage complex, production issues
  • Experience building highly scalable and performing applications
  • Advanced understanding of monitoring and performance profiling tools in modern web development
  • Proficiency in writing and maintaining unit, integration, and E2E tests
  • Experience applying scalable frontend architectures in a high-traffic production environment
