Quality Assurance Supervisor

The Quality Assurance Supervisor (QAS) is responsible for assisting the Quality Assurance Manager (QAM) in the planning, development, execution and maintenance of a fully effective Quality Assurance Department as required by the site General Manager and outside contractual agreements (Canadian Registration and Factory Mutual).  The QAS insures all corporate and local quality directives/instructions are adhered to by all Evapco / Madera managers, superintendents, supervisors, and team members. The QAS is the principal supervisor and coordinator for Field Service Technicians to include oversight, training, safety, certifications, expense management, job planning and execution, and customer satisfaction. Travel to jobsites in field, working at heights, and inspecting work in units both externally and internally in the field is required – estimate less than 20% travel per year.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assure compliance to ASME Section B31.5, Canadian Registration Number (CRN), Factory Mutual Insurance (FM) and Evapco Quality System Manual.
  • Conducts investigations of internal quality issues and areas of non-compliance, developing weekly reports for the QAM recommending corrective and preventative action measures.
  • Conducts on-site facility audits, using the internal “Living an Audit Lifestyle” program as the key auditing tool to insure compliance with all site 6S goals as set by the QAM.
  • Authorized to require that defective work or material be corrected or removed until rendered compliant with specified quality requirements and documentation.
  • Prepare and conduct weekly Quality Assurance meetings with the site’s supervisors/superintendents.
  • The QAS will assure, to the best of their abilities, that all shop workmanship, materials and unit construction are in full compliance with the requirements as set forth in Evapco’s work instructions, prints, and commercial parts specifications.
  • Develop training priorities at the direction of the Quality Manager based on findings from the Evapco Safety Committee, QAR's, shop employees and their management chain.
  • Conduct annual audit reviews with the Quality Manager, working to identify gaps in training within past audit outcomes.

  • The QAS shall assist in the planning and supervision of the QA staff, including appropriate instruction and training.
  • Maintain Welders WPQ both coil and flat welding departments.
  • Receive and evaluate all welding coupons.
  • Ship welding coupons to Evapco Corporate team for testing and certification approval.
  • Distribute welding certifications documents to corresponding Supervisors.  
  • Oversee and administer all Field Service-related activities for both warrantable and sold service unit repairs and overhauls – to include pre-job planning, on-site safety, customer satisfaction, post-job reporting, expense report management.
  • Responsible for inventory, storage, maintenance, cleanliness, and readiness of Field Service equipment, tools, manuals, and vehicles. 
  • Using feedback from jobsites, aid in QAR closeout by entering Root Cause Analysis, Preventative and Corrective actions.
  • Develops and present Quality Flashes with shop personnel.
  • Maintain relationships with corporate and plant team members, vendors/suppliers, and regulatory agencies.
  • Confirm that Evapco West meets all OSHA requirements for performing field service on Evaporative Cooling Equipment
  • Successfully complete the OSHA 10 construction safety course and maintain certification.
  • Effectively communicate, both written and verbal, quality processes and expectations to team members
  • Perform additional managerial responsibilities as necessary, apparent or assigned.

Job qualifications:

  • Prior leadership/supervisory experience, is preferred
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in Evapco product fabrication and assembly is required.
  • Four-year degree in a relatable field of study or experience equivalent to a four-year degree, is preferred.
  • Quality certifications from the American Society for Quality (ASQ), Process Improvement Six Sigma, and ISO 9001, are preferred. 
  • Excellent communication skills required/Bilingual in English and Spanish, is preferred.
  • Advanced user knowledge of SharePoint, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, is required.
  • Clear background check and ability to travel domestically and internationally is required.

We offer competitive compensation based on experience. The pay range is $58,120 - $87,317 annually.
