About the Position: We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Derivatives Accounting & Operations Associate to join our growing team. This role is central to our derivatives program, overseeing client onboarding, ongoing servicing, and the accuracy of accounting and regulatory reporting. In addition, the Associate will drive automation, process improvements, and cross-team data integration initiatives.

This position offers the opportunity to play a key role in scaling our derivatives platform, with visibility to senior leadership and potential for future advancement. This role will be based in our Chicago office, with a hybrid schedule combining in-office and remote work.


Specifically, this individual will be responsible for the following:

  • Manage deliverables: generate, audit, and upload accounting, operational & regulatory reports with a focus on accuracy and timeliness. Troubleshooting any issues independently.
  • Manage client inquiries within department SLAs and working with SMEs as needed.
  • Interact with sales and client services teams to address data and reporting questions.
  • Manage contract creation and user access to client reporting portals.
  • Lead and manage the SOC1 process with external auditors.
  • Support automation and reporting projects in collaboration with the Derivatives Accounting and Analytics teams. 
  • Prototype new reports and liaise with the Technology team to support development efforts. Managing IT priorities.
  • Assist in building quality control and reconciliation checks to strengthen reporting accuracy.
  • Work with internal teams to integrate data across groups and platforms.
Requirements

  We are seeking candidates with the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Statistics, STEM, or related field
  • 3-5 years’ experience in derivatives or financial service operations 
  • Hands-on experience with hedge accounting standards and derivatives accounting
  • Strong understanding of interest rate derivatives
  • Strong quantitative and analytical problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and time management abilities
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
  • High emotional intelligence and professional demeanor; able to build trust and maintain confidentiality
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with VBA, SQL, or Bloomberg (MARS, HEFF, SWPM) is a plus
  • Strong aptitude for learning technical software solutions
  • Required to complete registration as an Associated Person with the NFA within 120 days of hire date

Compensation: The base salary range for this position is $100,000 - $125,000. This is an estimated range based on the circumstances at the time of posting, however, may change based on a combination of factors, including but not limited to skills, experience, education, market factors, geographical location, budget, and demand. This position is also eligible for a bonus component that would be dependent on pre-defined performance factors. All compensation determinations are based on the skills and experience required for the position and commensurate with experience of selected individuals, which may vary above and below the stated amounts.
