We are looking for a Senior Financial Account who is a talented individual possessing a solutions-oriented mindset and strong written and verbal communication skills. The person is an integral part of the growing Corporate Accounting Department for multiple companies operating in multiple states.


Job Overview: The Senior Financial Accountant partners with the accounting team and Controller on month end financial close, including the calculation and posting of certain journal entries, creating schedules, and upgrading processes. The Senior Financial Accountant will be responsible for preparing a monthly financial close which includes support for all balance sheet and income statement accounts and documenting of controls. This position is key to the success of the financial accounting team and will be involved with special projects such as acquisition analysis and implementation, the implementation of new control standards and other projects as the company continues to grow. The professional in this role will be responsible for keeping abreast of relevant accounting literature including new GAAP pronouncements.


Essential Duties:

  • Support the monthly close process through the preparation of monthly journal entries such as, Revenue fixed assets, accruals and cash.
  • Help improve the monthly close process through automation and the implementation of new applications.
  • Assist with preparing a monthly close of all balance sheet and income statement accounts and follow-up on items that require reconciliation.
  • Prepare, review and analyze monthly, quarterly, bi-annual and annual Financial Statements with supporting documentation under various accounting standards.
  • Assist in the development of the annual budgeting process. Provide financial forecasts, variance analysis, and recommendations to support budget adherence and long-term financial planning.
  • Coordinate with external auditors to provide support and monitor progress.
  • Partner with the Controller and FP&A Manager on special projects and acquisitions.
  • Research new financial reporting pronouncements and determine applicability.

 

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial regulations, and reporting standards.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in the use and application of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word and Outlook) and the ability to learn new software or applications.
  • Capacity to be independently driven, take initiative, and with motivation to excel both as autonomous workers and team players.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of healthcare accounting is a strong plus.
  • Experience Business Central is a plus.

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related business degree from an accredited four-year university or college.
  • 3+ plus years of directly related relevant work experience required.
  • Public accounting experience, highly preferred.
  • CPA or CPA eligible, preferred.
  • Healthcare experience, preferred.
