About the BHUCC

BHUCC is the first of its kind in Kansas City, offering same-day, walk-in access to psychiatric medication and mental health support. Co-located with our Partial Hospitalization (PHP) and Intensive Outpatient (IOP) Programs, BHUCC ensures seamless access to continued care when needed. Our multidisciplinary team provides immediate, compassionate support seven days a week—including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

What You’ll Do

• Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, diagnose mental health conditions, and prescribe psychotropic medications.
• Manage medical care and treatment for individuals served within the assigned program.
• Participate in treatment team meetings and collaborate with an interdisciplinary team.
• Ensure timely and accurate documentation of all billable services.
• Support clients in achieving long-term goals related to symptom management and functional improvement.
• Maintain thorough and up-to-date records in the electronic medical record system.
• Collaborate with internal teams to promote whole-person wellness and coordinate client care effectively.

Requirements of the Position

• Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
• Passed board certification for Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP).
• Ability to work one weekend per month is required.
• Ability to provide holiday coverage is required.
• Having a collaborative practice agreement with a ReDiscover Psychiatrist is required.
• Diligent and timely documentation practices is required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Certified as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP).
• Licensed Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) in the State of Missouri.
• Active BNDD, DEA, and NPI credentials in the State of Missouri.
• Two (2) years of experience in a behavioral health setting.
• Mental Health Crisis experience with children and adults.
• Willing to provide coverage in other Crisis Programs of ReDiscover.
• Solid understanding of mental illness and substance use disorders.
• Committed to delivering excellent, recovery-focused customer service.
• Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, G-Suite, and general computer use.
