The Director of Food Services shall be committed to living a biblical lifestyle and called by God to serve at Vacaville Christian Schools. The Director oversees all aspects of the school’s food service program, ensuring that nutritious, high-quality meals are provided to students and staff in a structured, positive, and Christ-centered environment.

This position requires strong leadership, organization, and communication skills to manage food preparation, menu planning, inventory, budgeting, staff supervision, and compliance with state and local health regulations. The Director of Food Services will lead by example, demonstrating servant leadership and a commitment to excellence that reflects the mission and values of Vacaville Christian Schools.

VCS exists to provide, in partnership with home and church, a distinctive, Christ-centered education in a nurturing environment that equips young people to excel in life and in service to Jesus Christ. The Director of Food Services plays a vital role in supporting this mission by fostering a caring, efficient, and spiritually grounded food service program that nourishes both body and spirit.

Requirements

 

Duties & Responsibilities:

Integrate Biblical principles and the Christian philosophy throughout daily interactions with students, faculty, parents, and staff.

Comply with the Statement of Faith, the Christian Role Model Expectations, and the VCS Employee Handbook and be committed to upholding them.

Provide Christ-centered leadership to the Food Service Department, ensuring that all operations reflect excellence, integrity, and service to others.

Oversee the daily operations of the food service program, including menu planning, food preparation, purchasing, budgeting, and staff supervision.

Ensure all meals meet nutritional standards and comply with the California Retail Food and Facilities Codes and local health regulations.

Maintain high standards of cleanliness, sanitation, and safety throughout all food service areas and equipment.

Develop and maintain strong vendor relationships for quality purchasing and cost efficiency.

Coordinate and prepare food service for special school events such as Staff Orientation, In-Service Training Sessions, National Day of Prayer, Pastor Appreciation, and other school functions as needed.

Demonstrate and commit to excellent communication with parents, students, faculty, and administration to uphold the VCS standard of excellence.

Ensure efficiency, teamwork, and exceptional customer service within the Food Service Department.

Train, schedule, and evaluate food service staff to ensure high performance and adherence to school standards.

Manage inventory, ordering, and storage of food and supplies while maintaining accurate records.

Oversee compliance with all safety, health, and sanitation regulations, ensuring required inspections and certifications are maintained.

Be physically able to stand for long periods of time and lift up to 25 lbs.

Demonstrate a strong passion to uphold the Vision, Mission, Statement of Faith, and Core Values of Vacaville Christian Schools.

Affirms that, as part of the qualifications for this position, he/she is a follower of Jesus Christ and knows the Lord as personal Savior.

Ability to follow the Matthew 18 Principle in dealing with leadership, faculty, administration, and parents.

Attendance in a Bible-based church.

Demonstrate servant leadership that fosters teamwork, respect, and a Christ-centered culture within the department.

Create a positive and encouraging work environment by developing and maintaining rapport with students, parents, and staff, treating everyone with friendliness, dignity, and respect.

Requirements / Qualifications:

High School Diploma or equivalent (Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Food Service Management, Nutrition, or related field preferred).

Food Handler’s Certification (SERV Safe or equivalent; can be obtained upon hire).

Minimum of 3 years of experience in food service management or supervisory role preferred.

Strong knowledge of food safety, nutrition, and kitchen operations.
