Position Summary

The Production Manager serves as a key member of the plant leadership team. This role provides both strategic and hands-on leadership to ensure production goals are achieved in safety, quality, delivery, and cost efficiency. The Manager will oversee all aspects of manufacturing operations, champion lean manufacturing practices, and drive a culture of continuous improvement that results in measurable cost savings. By partnering closely with cross-functional teams and guiding production staff, this role plays a critical part in aligning daily operations with the plant’s long-term objectives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee daily manufacturing operations to achieve key performance objectives in safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
  • Monitor, analyze, and report on production metrics (productivity, scrap, downtime, OEE, and hour-by-hour boards) to proactively drive improvements.
  • Partner with the Plant Manager to develop and execute strategies that strengthen operational performance and workforce capability.
  • Lead root cause analysis and implement timely, sustainable corrective actions for safety, quality, and delivery concerns.
  • Mentor, coach, and develop team members through training, cross-training, and performance evaluations.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and engagement while ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with Quality, Engineering, Planning, and Maintenance to resolve process issues and support new product launches.
  • Drive lean manufacturing initiatives such as 5S, standardized work, Kaizen, and visual management to optimize efficiency.
  • Ensure accuracy in production reporting, inventory transactions, and reconciliation of discrepancies.
  • Conduct regular Gemba walks and actively engage with operators to identify opportunities for improvement and innovation.
  • Serve as a trusted operational partner to the Plant Manager in leadership and decision-making activities.
  • Perform other duties and special projects aligned with plant objectives.


Required Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Manufacturing, Business, or a related field; equivalent experience in manufacturing leadership will be considered.
  • Minimum of 5 years of supervisory or managerial experience in a manufacturing environment, leading teams of 10 or more employees.
  • Demonstrated success in applying lean manufacturing principles and driving measurable operational improvements.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proven experience in production or manufacturing management, preferably within a Tier 1 automotive environment.
  • Hands-on experience in harness assembly or other complex manufacturing processes.
  • Working knowledge of MRP/ERP systems (e.g., Oracle, SAP, or similar).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

  • Strong leadership presence with the ability to serve as a trusted partner to plant leadership.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; able to inspire, motivate, and influence at all levels.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to translate organizational goals into operational execution.
  • Proven problem-solving and decision-making ability using data-driven analysis.
  • Solid understanding of lean tools (5S, Kaizen, Standard Work, Visual Management).
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Physical Requirements

  • Regularly required to stand, walk, and move throughout the facility.
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds occasionally.
  • Must be able to visually inspect parts and read detailed work instructions.

Work Environment

  • Fast-paced, climate-controlled manufacturing environment.
  • Exposure to moderate noise, machinery, and production equipment.
  • Required to wear appropriate PPE and comply with all safety protocols.
