Technical Business Analysist & Software Developer

Overview
Santa Monica Seafood is seeking a seasoned Technical Business Analyst with a strong blend of software development, report writing, and business analysis expertise. The ideal candidate will also have hands-on experience in accounting, the food industry, and business operations relevant to food production and distribution.
This cross-functional role will be instrumental in designing and implementing data-driven solutions, streamlining operational workflows, and building custom software/reporting tools that empower strategic decision-making across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Report Writing Duties (30%)
· Analyze business requirements and convert them into functional specifications.
· Create and maintain Power BI dashboards and ERP reports.
· Ensure data consistency across platforms (e.g., ERP, CRM, databases). This includes data normalization and standardization.
· Monitor KPIs and deliver actionable insights.
· Utilize tools such as SQL profiler to translate end user transactions to affected tables for effective report writing.
· Setup and maintain data exchange gateways such as PowerBI Gateways.
· Train users on Power BI and troubleshoot data/reporting issues.
Software/Integration Developer (50%)
· Develop and maintain complex SQL queries, functions, and stored procedures.
· Build scalable, secure enterprise applications.
· Integrate emerging technologies including AI/ML.
· Define and uphold best practices for coding, software architecture, and system integrations, conducting code check-ins and code reviews to maintain high development standards.
· Collaborate cross-functionally on solutions and systems integration.
· Adopt best practices and innovative software design methodologies.
· Use tools such as SQL Profiler to trace transaction activity, identify affected tables, and troubleshoot system locks and/or performance issues.
· Monitor cloud and on-prem BSA assets (AWS, Azure, custom apps).
Business Analyst (20%)
· Conduct gap analysis, process modeling, and document workflows.
· Support M&A, company expansions, and new business startups.
· Compose internal and external SOPs, user guides, videos, and documentation.
· Participate in development and execution of effective training programs.
· Promote automation to replace manual processes and implement changes to improve processes and workflows.
· Consult with VP of Enterprise Solutions and other department leadership regarding ongoing process improvements or changes, potential impact of those changes.
· Provide helpdesk support to business operation.
· Demonstrate ability to manage conflicting priorities and challenging situations.
Required Qualifications
· 5+ years in software development/reporting/business analysis.
· Strong in SQL (Transact-SQL), Python, Power BI, and cloud platforms.
· Experience with Microsoft BI Stack: SSRS, SSIS, SSAS.
· Expertise in data modeling, data warehousing, ETL processes.
· Background in accounting or financial reporting.
· Proven experience in fast-paced environments with tight deadlines.
· Familiarity with integrations.
· Hands-on with cloud databases (Azure SQL DB, MS SQL DB).
· Solid experience in automated testing and QA.
